I dont like leather. You stick to it when you fall alseep and it doesnt handle drool well at all.

OP, ValueCity will indeed meet your budget but, you'll be back in a month to buy another one. ValueCity is what a furniture store calls itself when what they sell is junk...

Pottery Barn/West elm furniture is expensive, but it LASTS FOREVER. I bought a pottery barn bedset, 10 years later its still holding strong.

There's also belfort furniture off 28/sterling boulevard, they also make very-high quality furnishings that will last forever- solid wood and all that.

Value city is good if you have kids and you know they are gonna fuck it up eventually by jumping on it and stuff- or good furniture to hold you 3-5 years while you save up for that real furniture.

IKEA will last you a year or 2, but its the cheapest and nicest.

If you REALLY want cheap AND good, be ready to head out to N. Carolina/S. Carolina in the furniture making district- google for it, its been a few years but they have AWESOME furniture stores down there for WAYYYYY cheaper then what you would pay in VA (remember they have to pay that high ass northern va rent too)...so if you have a free weekend a trip down there to go furniture shopping is WORTH IT. I got my mom a gorgeous solid wood name-brand dining room set, goes for 1800 easily up here, got it in N. Carolina for ....drumroll...$300.

Only problem with craigslist, you have to go back and forth with the seller, meet them on their time, and ignore the fact they've probably been fucking on that couch, pets have been on it, bedbugs, you don't know how that other person lived....but if you've got patience and a steamcleaner I guess it's ok if you're just trying to save money.

Belfort furniture. Leather couches are fantastic and durable - even with 2 large dogs.

I wouldn't say that Ikea lasts a short time. I have one that I bought 13 years ago and it is still ok. It is still do ing ok. It is little warn but it isn't that bad. Still has a lot of life left in it as a rec room couch.
