Fairfax County Parkway

Fairfax County Parkway is the worlds most confusing road.

It is represented by three different numbers.

It seperates so if you have to get off at one exit just re-entr onto it.

Most inconvient location. Takes you to knowhere.

Before long it will charge toll.

What's so difficult about remembering 286 for a route number?

The interchange with the Franconia Springfield Parkway and Rolling Road and the Fairfax County Parkway is idiotic, but it's really not that complicated.

And it takes you to
Fort Belvoir
Fair Lakes/Fair Oaks
Connects with Rt 50
Fair Oaks Hospital
Reston, a short distance from Reston Town Center
Connects with the Dulles Access road and toll road
Connects with Route 7

It serves as an outer beltway for Fairfax county. Something that makes an incredible difference in traffic for the better.

A route number is a numeric number assigned to a road. Interstate Ninety Five'ss route number is "95". Interstate Sixty-Six's route number is "66". Old Keene Mill Road route number is "644". Braddock Road's route number is "620".

Fairfax County Parkway's route numbers are "7100" , "7900" , "286" , "289".

That is what a route number is. Any questions you may have?

Rolling Road is fucking insane now. Is it even still considered rolling road? You used to be able to go back and forth between old keene mill rd and down past Alban rd and then it changes into Pohick Rd and ended at Rt. 1.

Now, going south it crosses the parkway and changes into a part of Fairfax County parkway itself. Going north it goes into some dead end. The signs are confusing and how the hell do you go from saratoga to old keene mill rd now?

Maybe you shouldn't be driving. It couldn't be more simple. Please stay off the roads, thank you.

Fairfax County has ONE route number: 286. 289 is Franconia-Springfield Parkway, a spur off of the Fairfax County Parkway. Both of those roads were previously numbered 7100 and 7900, but those numbers are no longer used (though some signs still list them as the old route numbers).

The reason for the changes? In VA, any state route numbered under 600 is designated as a "primary" route which means it gets a higher level of state funding. Fairfax County Parkway and Franconia-Springfield Parkway were both changed to primary routes a year or two ago, resulting in the need to change the numbers.

So obviously Newington and the other twits who posted afterwards don't know either since they weren't capable of providing the answer. Please get help for your rage issues if a simple question makes you become unhinged.

Really?

Hmmm.....

So the Fairfax Govemnet changed lowered the numbers so they could pocket the leftover numbers. Isn't that illegal / missaprorpation of funds, ettc.

My point was...with GPS (note my screen name) route numbers have been rendered unimportant. Enter destination address, follow the purple line on the screen and arrive at the destination.
