There was a house back in the Smith Carny tract where the govt center was built. After the county got the pland they used the house for the County Survey shop. I also remember walking in with a fried who had a metal detector fro Rt 50 and coming across the memorial at Momument with the little fence around . It was just off West Ox the houses there in the back, grown up with weeds, There was another house the county got at Pender, near Rt 50 that as taken for the intersection, It was a fine older house with nice trim and had some nice tress on the property. This was all about 32 years back.
In the summer of 1970 I was on some property off West ox with a friend and his father a Air Force Lt Col who was a forward observer in Vietnam and just came home, We were in there near the 29 drive in, throwing some clays and shooting them with a shotgun, the father thought we were far enough in the country to do it. Fairfax Co Pd came by , had a talk with the father and just told him we could not shoot there, no big deal. And we left. The area was "rustic" back then and If you wanted a real back to the country ride you just took Braddock Road all the way out to Loudoun Co.
