On Tuesday, January 7, 2014, all Prince William County Public Schools will be closed—code green for employees—due to predictions of dangerously cold temperatures and wind chills. SACC will not open. All scheduled activities are cancelled. These precautions will ensure the safety of all students, especially the thousands who walk to school.

The scheduled Adult Class Registration at Stonewall Middle School has been rescheduled for Thursday, January 9, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Stonewall Middle School.

Most likely closed and the make-up day will be February 18th

Please stay up until 4:55 a.m. Tuesday, January 7, 2014 for updates on the closure of all FCPS schools and facilities and cancellation of all activities at FCPS properties.

Well at least FFX County has the balls to close. DC Public Schools are open tomorrow for ..... wait for it ... the fact that 70% of DC Schoolchildren rely on the schools for both breakfast and lunch. All Minnesota public schools were closed today due to the cold.

And the schools in Minnesota will be closed again tomorrow which means the cold is dangerous there, a "true" cold weather site. FCPS offices though are open, which means that the school system is operating, just without kids. Think about children who don't have much immunities to the cold standing out in subzero cold weather. This is the flu season after all. Not all kids can in mom or dad's cars. That's why they closed the schools.

Many kids in this area probably don't have outerwear (coats, gloves, hats, etc) warm enough to handle temps and wind chill as low as is expected. Not everyone has expedition gear from REI to handle temps in low teens with wind chill below 0, which will cut through most of what people in the area wear to deal with typical 30ish temps. This weather probably merits school closing more than many snow days.
