Fair Oaks Mall is the most mismanaged shopping center in the entire area.

The mismanagement of Fair Oaks Mall comes from their terrible general manager Robert Stark.

HE IS AN ARROGANT PRICK!

There is no way to shop at that mall without all these people trying to give you their samples, trying to stop you, chasing after you, yelling at you. It's like being in the streets of a third world country. I just won't go there any more.

This is why I give all my business to online retailers. I understand making a sales pitch but these guys are WAY too aggressive with it.

Maybe if they set up an online shop and handed out cards with the url, I might take a peek at what they have online. But if they are literally in my face with it, it turns me off. Reminds me of shady car salesman.

If you have problems at Fair Oaks, go to their marketing manager. His name is Ed Cassidy. He is very respectful and will listen to you and respond very politely and will take care of the problem. He has been very nice and helped my family twice when we had an issue with how we were being treated at the Fair Oaks Mall.

I can't handle the hawkers at Fair Oaks any more. Too pushy and aggressive. Go to Tysons Corner and shop since they do not bother you there or chase after you and it seems Tysons Corner knows how to manage their vendors.

The leasing woman at Fair Oaks is a crook. Very rude and very mean to me. Do not do business with her.

Baloney. I was at Tyson's corner Center last Sunday. I was accosted by those Russians selling their snake oil at every kiosk. If they make eye contact, the chase is on.

I brought my 4-year old daughter to the Fair Oaks Mall child play area. I was so disappointed to find that the Mall has contracted with Michael & Sons HVAC company to destroy all the child-oriented soft-climb toys and replace them with blatant advertising by Michael & Sons. All the plastic features of the child area are nothing more than advertising for M&S. I observed numerous children falling off the toys (e.g. Rolls of tape; Vehicle). Further, the grotesquely-ugly plastic Truck is so large that it causes Child-endangerment by blocking the field of view for all parents attempting to safeguard their children by keeping them in observation. When the children enter the M&S truck, parents are unable to maintain view of the children, as they freely exit opposite end or opposite side of Truck. Further, when children run around to other side of truck, parents lose sight of them. I observed a strange man pick up a child that was not his own. Fortunately, the parent came around the!
truck and grabbed her child and scolded the man. Because the truck is so large, parents on one side of play area cannot observe someone stealing children over the seats on the other side are area. Additionally, I observed several children hit their heads on the hard-plastic advertising trucks that line the outside of the play-area (when they were standing on the couches). Children do NOT need these unsafe, advertising equipment when they are playing. I intend to report these unsafe conditions to the Virginia Dept of Social Services, Virginia Government, the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), National Playground Safety Institute (NPSI), National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA). I will ask them to conduct a Naitonal NAEYC Audit on your facility (The results of which I will publish in all the local newspapers). You should be very ashamed of yourself for stealing-away the child-appropriate play-toys and replacing them with your commercial advertising paid for by bribes from M&S.

The sure sign of a mall going under are the vendor kiosks. Like stated above when they openly hassle shoppers its like some third world bazaar. The mall is trying to squeeze every dime out of the place when they allow this to happen. I dont understand why the brick and mortar stores dont complain since it hits them two ways, it chases away shoppers and it cuts into their sales.

I've been hounded numerous times at Tysons kiosks (same kiosks selling the same shit as Fair Oaks). I've never approached the manager to say anything, but it does happen.

There is a woman named Susan Farris or Farrish and she puts signs on the kiosks nd she rents them out to anybody. Her number is 703-359-8302. I have called her to complain but she will not call you back. I write on their customer comment cards but that is a waste of time and she still does not respond to you. I am going to contact Matthew Shay who is president of the retail federation at 202-783-7971 and report her renting to these people who make it unsafe to shop at the Fair Oaks Mall.

Anybody that rents out space at a mall is a crook. That is how they make their money and that is why these people come and go selling shit that nobody will buy.

A crook is someone who is dishonest or criminal. Renting space at a mall is neither. Just because you don't like the tenants does not make her a crook. Having your feelings does not make her a crook either.

If you don't like the tenants at the mall, go elsewhere.

He has also written a book titled, "So You Want to be a Government Contractor."

With a retail price of $6.99 I'm guessing sales were through the roof. How many copies did you sell Mikey? 6? Remember your family doesn't count.

I'm just impressed he carved out the time to write a book. What with all the mall trips and letters of complaints he had to write.

The people who have said that the mall management just doesn't care are right. Not only don't they care about the customers, they don't care about the tenants or mall employees either. A large number of complaints about those kiosks come from other mall tenants and employees who are tired of their customers being harassed as they come and shop at their stores, but the management of the mall doesn't care as long as the checks clear.

That being said, mall security loves to stick it to the kiosks any chance they get. You'll have a much better chance of something happening to the kiosk people if you report their behavior to mall security instead of to mall management. The contract company which handles the security just seems to take it more seriously, probably since they get paid the same whether or not the kiosk check clears.

Additionally, has anybody been to Springfield or Potomac Mills lately? I mean....yeesh.

Anybody trying to shop at Fair Oaks should not be bothered. The mall is full of panhandlers that get in your way and force you to come to their tables. You can hardly escape. The managers and the police don't care and let them bother you no matter how many times you say no. No more Fair Oaks for me ever again.

If you go to the Fair Oaks mall just stay on the top floor. The mall puts the barkers and their crap on the bottom floor with all their other low end stores and reserves the top floor for their best stores and let you shop without being acccosted.

The one way to handle the badgering of those sellers is to just speak back at them in English. They won't know what to do ;)

What would you expect? The whole mall is owned by a crook who went to jail for trying to fix prices.

I wonder what Coach, JCrew, Swaroski and JJill are going to feel when they are told they are low end stores? We just like Tysons instead though the parking is a nightmare there.

So.... The Apple Store and Victoria's Secret are low end stores while Claire's and FYE are high end stores? Upper level versus lower level makes no difference when it comes to where regular stores are located, it's all about square footage and timely availability of the space. The reason why there are more kiosks on the lower level is simply because there is more available square footage in what used to be open area compared to the large cut-outs the upper level has.

I like Fair Oaks, but I do not like the kiasks. Take those away and you have a nice mall. Clean. Good stores. Easy parking. Decent food choices. Seasonal Events. Pretty decor. I also like the size. Tyson's is a bit to big for me. I can find pretty much what I need at Fair Oaks and it is conveniently located to me.

We need to be clever about handling these kiask people. Next time they rub a little lotion on your hand, immediately scream, "It burns! It burns!" Or make a scene about how horrible their product smells.

"Can I ask you a question?" They love to bait you with that line. Next time say, "No, but can I ask you a question?" Ask if they've found Jesus Christ as their savior. Give them prepared pamphlets. Go off on a random diatribe of your choice. Flash a prepared sign as you walk by, "Don't Talk to Me. I don't want to buy your shit." No sign? Just stare at them without breaking eye contact as you walk by. As they talk to you just scowl and don't say a word. Don't break eye contact.

We need some creative types to do this and put it up on youtube.

If nothing else. Maybe we should just film their assaults put them on the internet and maybe then the management will do something about them.

What happened to this place? Went in there last week for some Christmas shopping, I thought they were giving away free turkeys to the poor.

A black couple was involved in a domestic fight at the entrance. Rednecks inside spanking their kids. Arabs and Africans screaming at each other when they are only two fee apart. G damned third world looking if you ask me. The bad part is I didnt see one Israeli girl willing to give me a bj in exchange for buying dead sea salt.

The Israelis are gone. Four kiosks and their single storefront were all shut down earlier this week after the FBI raided them during the night in a money laundering sting. Agents came in during the night, took out computers and paperwork, and then hung around to make arrests when people showed up in the morning.

As far as the other things going on: Welcome to Fairfax. You'll see more of the rednecks further south, more blacks further into D.C., and a smattering of the others throughout the rest of the county. Have fun.

Never seen a haircut done over the internet before. How does that work?

I complained to mall security. He did show interest. Offered to file a report. I didn't want my name, address and such where this jerk could get ahold of it. No interest in him showing up at my house and brandishing his schlong. He said he was going to talk to him. Splat ball guy wasn't obtrusive. Didn't break any laws (although he probably doesn't have had a green card). He was just a jerk and purposely tried to get my kid to act like a brat because I said "no" to his $7 POS toy.

And somebody tell me, how does a kiosk stay in business while selling $7 toys? Let's say the place sells 10 toys per day. Pays $1 for them.

10 x 30days = 300 sold per month.
300 x $6 profit = $1800/month.
Minus mall rent, insurance, payroll . . .

Here's a interesting article on kiosks.
http://mobile.nytimes.com/2013/05/23/business/smallbusiness/hidden-in-plain-sight-tiny-mall-kiosks-make-a-surprisingly-big-impact.html?pagewanted=all&_r=0

I say it's a coverup for selling passports and passage to get into the US.
