Once was to dig fence post holes and the other was to dig a trench to lay drainage pipe in.

Do NOT negotiate an hourly rate. You tell the guy (there's always one who speaks English) what you need done and a flat rate.

Do these guys have cars or do you have to give them a ride?

Either I or my fiend kept an eye on them, and I didn't let them see my other tools.

Call Miss Utility (or not). While she makes house calls, she will graffiti up your yard like an inner city playground.

I hired two for a single day. Never again!

I had them assist me in painting my house. Fed them lunch, gave them Cokes, etc. Treated them fair. Gave them money as promised at the end of the day.

What did I get in return? Oh, I got two Hispanic males who had experience painting, but the two of them worked together and talked the whole time. After an hour, I had one of them head to the back of the home to work, while I had one remain in the front. Had I not done that, the job would have never been done.

I've really learned that you get what you pay for.

You don't have to pay them to do that. In fact, they know that just by voting Democratic, they'll get plenty of handouts by who gets into office.

I used them once from the 7-11 in Herndon to help us move. I paid them with Pizza and Beer for about 30 minutes of work. They were outstanding.

Ummm, if you're paying the illegals $10 or $20/hour, then you're doing it wrong.

$240/5 hours /2 illegals = $24/hour in cash money

You could have called somebody who knew WTF they were doing for that.

Hiring an illegal to do work OUTSIDE your house = OK idea

Yes. You are 100% correct. Since I did hire them on one single occasion, I am riddled with guilt each time I look into the mirror. I actually had hired them 9 years ago ... and, the guilt remains.

There will be no mañana for me ever hiring such a crew again.

If the 17 and 18 year old American kids would do some work, we could pay them some honest wages for honest work. The Spanish illegals would be so hungry, they'd cannibalize each other.
