If you're nonessential, WHY DO WE HAVE YOU? just a question.

Essential means necessary to protect life or property. My agency is a regulatory commission, 98% nonessential. Businesses want us to protect their interests and mediate disputes among other things.

During the last threatened shutdown, I begged to be considered non-essential.

It didn't happen. I wanted the time off.

Every government place I worked had at least 25% pure dead weight. About 10% more caused so much bad work and shit to deal with that they reduced the capacity/capability of the entire group.

Describes the Federal Government pretty well. If you stay long enough about another 25 percent of the employees become dead weight because of the day to day crap that you have to deal with on a daily basis.

Let's put it this way -- within your private sector corporation, you can assume that you are non-essential.

Cut the nonessential employees first. Then we can look at cutting those "essential" employees. Sounds like a plan!

Employees that protect life or property are usually more expensive. Do you really want to pay premium rates for every employee?

Most non essential employees are a waste of time and could be let go, HUD and Dept of ED can be cut, most people in govt HR are overweight ghetto chicks from PG county that would rather paint their nails on taxpayers dime. Also cut the contractors, most are pukes. Leave all security and rescue employees as they are needed to protect the citizens, not the assholes in charge. We need to vote out all the people on the Hill and the Chicago Puppet in the White House.

I think that's the point, if I was nonessential in a private corporation, I would be gone. No company, except the federal government, like to hold overhead employees. Please get a clue

They broadened the scope to include those who help the maintain morale of those who are essential.

Notice VOA is deemed essential.

Hey, asshat! Like several other ignorant dipshits here, you've got the WRONG FUCKING DEFINITION of the word "essential". Why don't you go look up what that word actually means in a federal context. Then you wouldn't look quite so much like a drooling basket-case dumbfuck anymore.

I've seen nonessential in privates. You just have to be essential 30% of the time at best if you take direction from a bad manager who doesn't know how to delegate or plan. People sitting around and looking busy.

Where would "essential" employees be defined asshat?

Look hard.

Couldn't fucking find anything, eh there, hapless jackass? What a fine example of wimpish stupid incompetency. In conjunction with standards and guidelines issued by OMB and OPM, each affected agency prepares lists of employees deemed essential. Those lists are then cleared and approved by reviewing offices at the White House. On approval, each potentially affected employee is apprised of his or her status.

The applicable standards state that essential employees are those who are necessary to the protection of public health, safety, or property. Depending on its nature, public property may, but often does not, include government data, ongoing research experiments, and other intangible property.

Otherwise, political appointees are all exempt simply because by law they cannot be furloughed. All staff necessary for the President to carry out his constitutional responsibilities are similarly exempt by law, and all employees whose salaries are paid from sources other than annual appropriations are exempt by definition.

So there's your fucking homework done for you, you lard-ass lazy dumbfuck. You can go back to being a clueless asstard now, so crawl back under whatever slime-encrusted rock and stop bothering serious people with your total dipshit loserness.

I know the answer. Apparently, you don't.

Show where personnel are officially designated as "essential" or "nonessential."

Yeah, just like Nixon's fucking "Secret Plan" to end the war in Vietnam. So secret, even HE didn't know what it was.

Try reading the above another six or eight times, asstard. Probably won't help, but who knows -- something might somehow wink in.
