Shots fired, fawn killed in backyard
http://fairfaxcity.patch.com/groups/announcements/p/shots-fired-fawn-killed-in-backyard

We have been visited by several lovely deer over the past few months. A few nights ago a neighbor heard 7 shots and a baby deer was discovered the next morning dead. Police whew called and refused to retrieve the deer. It happened in a neighbors yard on Cleveland Street (Near City Hall and GMU). Everyone was concerned about the fact that someone shot a gun in our neighborhood which is in Fairfax City zip code 22030.

People: if you're going to take a deer in Fairfax County, do it with a bow and arrow.

http://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/living/animals/wildlife/management/deer-management/options.htm

Much easier than getting a discharge permit, and safer, too. Also, who has 20 acres of land (or lives 100 yards from any road) in this county?

I guess you are not aware how dangerous fawns are - I'm sure this was just a safety measure:

My ex-wife never had a discharge permit - She left little un-slightly stains wherever she sat.

My brother was left brain dead after he struck a deer in his car. I know it may seem to be cruel, but there are too many around here and they pose a serious threat for motorists.

Too many...Deer? While we're on the subject of abundance, have you taken note of the sheer number of people in this area, or the fact that most of them are pretty useless? Am I allowed to start shooting them?

Familiarize yourself with the fact that the reason there are "too many" deer is actually because there are TOO MANY people.

It's not their job to remove a dead rotting deer carcass from your yard. In somewhat related news-they also are not there to wipe your ass after you drop a big fat dump either.

THANK YOU!

I am so tired of hearing about too many deer. We build on their land + force them onto smaller and smaller areas.

And the "starving" excuse to hunt them is the most illogical fucking thing I have ever heard. IF deer were to "starve" when populating areas, then this would be the death of ALL the deer in the wild. It does NOT happen in the wild where they populate freely.

Why not hunt them and use the meat to feed the hungry panhandlers around here.

Why not train the deer to eat the panhandlers? I'd rather have deer I can legally shoot than panhandlers.

You may have an argument for thinning the herd but not an excuse for firing seven rounds in an urban area.

Could round up the deer and take them to the Lamb Center?

Then I am sure you will be the first one willing to give up your house and move out of their habitat.

If you're not willing to do that, then STFU!!

There aren't too many deer, there are too few wolves and bears. Bet you snivlers would like to have a weapon if we truly 'fixed' Mother Nature.

Would love if wolves and bears made a comeback. But the helicopter parents would kill either one if ever seen - fucking pussies.

So because you were here first it's OK, but all the people after you are in the wrong. Maybe you are the one who started everyone moving into this area.

You can't bitch about something you contribute too.

Now Shut The Hell Up

This, X 10,000. There are far more deer today, period. Shoot'em.

I talked to City of Fairfax Police. Thankfully, it was determined that the deer actually died of natural causes, and that there were no shots fired. As for disposing of the dead deer, police say the bodies can be bagged and left out with other trash to be collected by the City. Hope that answers all your questions - it does appear the police sent someone out to investigate and came to these conclusions. Thanks!
