FCPD Celebrates Honor, Smithsonian to Host Helicopter Display in Chantilly

Smithsonian has chosen the location to display the history of helicopters. No other police department in the nation utilizes these vehicles more than the Fairfax County Police Department, so it is fitting the display will be based in Chantilly. A FCPD police helicopter will be featured.

On Saturday, the museum's Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center in Chantilly will offer a free daylong event focused on helicopters from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. It will feature a police helicopter from Fairfax County, a TV helicopter from Baltimore and a Virginia search and rescue chopper.

IT'S NOT FREE! It's $15 per car.

This is the old Smithsonian Udvar Hazy Center bait and switch scam.

Admission: Free, Parking $15

You can visit Udvar Hazy for free if you arrive after 4pm. From 4pm until closing, there are no parking attendants.

During summer months, this gives you 2 hours to look around. WInter hours, only an hour but you can go as often as you like.

I'd loved to see the budget for the helicopter division.

FCPD is also known for being one of the most secretive departments in the country.

The Smithsonian already has a display featuring Fairfax County Police Helicopter Unit. They have had since the place opened.
