Basketball coach and trainer Marlow Talley was arrested in Loudoun county for child porn and having sex with an underage girl. Fairfax county says there are no victims there; people have been saying for a long time that he has been having sex with girls he trained.

Being arrested doesn't mean guilty. And rumors are just rumors. Usually people who have no idea what they are talking about deal with rumors.

I know him for 5-6 years and know several girls he coached. They all were today shocked and do not believe this is true.

I have also known Marlow for some time, 7-8 years. My daughter trained with him and he always had young girls around him outside of training. This was a red flag from the beginning and my daughter didn't train with him much after. There was never proof but I can assure you that sadly not many people in the community are surprised. Riding around with high school girls in your truck after training hours is never a good sign. I hope these victims are all safe now.

Marlow is an amazing man. Lets remember he is the guy that would believe in every child, practiced with kids for free it they couldn't afford it. He showed his support at basketball games and attended graduations for his students. Marlow trained my child for years and when I mentioned the news my child was completely shocked. Then moments later asked if we could visit him. I'm sorry, I find this hard to believe.

He was not caught with child porn... Get the facts. They stated she said he asked her to take a pic but she declined. This statement from the girl resulted in solicitation of child porn. Key word solicitation. His computer was not taken until Friday and nothing has been found yet.... So lets not assume.

I DO NOT BELIEVE this and I am certain that in time his name will be cleared and the reason behind the false charges will be uncovered. Marlow is a kind person who is much more likely to be taken advantage of than taking advantage of someone else. This is not in him and I hope this is quickly resolved.

I can't imagine the victim would make up this stuff if it weren't true. There is a first for everything. Word has it Marlow made it very clear who his "favorite" was. Well whenever I saw Marlow training players his phone was always in his hand as all he did was text while players ran thru drill. So you are saying this 12 year old girl took his phone, ran off with it and took a nude picture on it then put it back? WTF, this is how perverts get away with this stuff. If Marlow is guilty then how about we allow this case to go to court before we judge him? Most of what is written here is speculation. We don't know the facts. To my knowledge, evidence is still being gathered by the police. If this is true, trust me, there will be other girls that will come forward. The key word in that sentence is "IF". WASHINGTON - A trainer and basketball coach in Virginia has been arrested and charged with sexual assault and solicitation of child pornography.

The Loudoun County Sheriff's Office says 39-year-old Marlow Mikassa Afshartous of Reston has provided basketball instruction at Claude Moore Recreation Center in Sterling and the now-closed Hoop Magic in Chantilly.

Afshartous also is known as Marlow Talley. Authorities say he additionally participated with the Fairfax Stars and at Georgetown Day School.

Investigators with the sheriff's office in June began looking into allegations that Afshartous had a sexual relationship with a female athlete under the age of 13. He was arrested last weekend with the help of Fairfax County police and is being held without bond.

Authorities say they are continuing the investigation to see if there may be additional alleged victims. Anyone with information is asked to call 703-777-0475.

I agree. I have never heard of any foul play until this story erupted. I have never seen him engage in any un professional way with those he trained or coached. He remembers you even if he hasn't seen you for years. Until proven guilty, not alleged guilty, don't try his case. He will have his day in court and hopefully those that know he is a good person especially those that he worked with will speak out on his behalf. If the allegations are proven with overwhelming evidence then let's pray for Marlow and his family. Matter of fact send prayers now to all involved because it must be hard on them. While Marlow may have been a nice guy, he can still have skeletons in his closet. Just because you are nice or would give the shirt off your back, doesn't mean that he couldn't have crossed the line, even if there is no track record of him every doing this in the past. He was 39 and the victim was 12. Clearly he should have known better. I believe he has 2 young daughters. I can only hope that he would have thought about them in this scenario. Time will tell his fate.
