how does Fairfax County verify that the voter is a legitimate US citizen(not illegal alien) and have the right to vote? how many illegals do you think will be voting in the upcoming presidential election in this county?

The Virginia State Board of Elections does not have a policy to verify that the applicant correctly answered the "are you a citizen" question on the voting application.

Of course, the next step is to demonstrate whether this is actually a problem, as opposed to a hypothetical conservative bogeyman.

Plus, let's say 10,000 non-citizens (there are legal aliens out there) voted. Would a measure to stop that be worth it if 50,000 legal voters were disenfranchised. I fully admit this is a hypothetical liberal bogeyman.

There are moves in MI to strike foreclosed-on people from the rolls, as are the moves in FL and OH to strike people whose voter info doesn't fully match info in other databases -- this includes things as innocuous as putting BLAH BLAH STREET S.E. in one database and BLAH BLAH STREET SE in another or a data clerk misspelling your name (as happened with Joe the Plumber.)

Voting is a right; its revocation should be done very carefully.

I'm wondering if Fairfax County would be willing to verify whether people are allowed to post to this forum in such a way that the subject line and the body of the message are the same.

most illegals would be better informed voters then the average amerikan citizen

They settled it before trial. The Dems apparently thought there was enough there there to bring a lawsuit. If these charges were 100% untrue would've been dismissed and brought some egg on the Demcrats' faces.

My apologies for implying it was a state election official that was threatening to do this. Supposedly the Michigan GOP was going to bring foreclosure lists as a basis to challenge voters.

You are referencing a blog that has serious factual problems. First, the statement, "The settlement acknowledges the existence of an illegal scheme by the Republicans to use mortgage foreclosure lists to deny foreclosure victims their right to vote," is a flat out lie. The settlement reads:

"Obama for America, the Democratic National Committee and individual
Macomb County residents have alleged that the Republican National Committee,
the Michigan Republican Party and the Macomb County Republican Party were
planning to use foreclosure lists to challenge certain voters on Election Day, The Republicans have denied the allegations and have stated that they never intended to challenge voters based on any such list To clarify the matter for all voters, all parties are pleased that they agree that the existence of a person's address on a foreclosure list does not provide a reasonable basis for challenging the person's eligibility to vote and that none of these parties will challenge any voter's eligibility on that basis."

The Dems approached the GOP on the settlement because they got the press they needed out of this charade. Basically, they didn't want to have to pay the huge legal bills associated with this case. They knew it wouldn't see the light of day before the election. It was a political stunt. You fell for it.

Again, if it were 100% bull from the Dems, the GOP could've fought it and won, or the GOP could've counter-sued.

I notice you said nothing about the moves in FL and OH to drop voters from the rolls for anything ranging from outright fraud to a typographical error.
