I was wondering if anyone has heard of the new tax that is waiting for Gov. Kaine's approval. It's a telecommunications tax that if passed, would now slap a 5% tax on cell phones, cable, home phone lines, and of all surprises, VOIP service and Satellite TV and Radio! So, XM & Sirius subscribers, Look Out!

I don't see how he could attempt to tax the satellite stuff with no local component. It would seem that is entirely within the realm of federal law.

It's nothing new -- VA is just behind the curve. Other jurisdictions have already implemented such tax in the past 6-7 years. I believe DC's is 8% last I checked my bill. -§

CA had a thing about that in their tax returns called "use tax or someting" that asked you to declare the amount of stuff you bought on the net out of state and then pay tax on it. But just as genius, the CA supreme court found you didn't have to answer it so I guess they put it on there for shit and giggles. On the tax stuff, VA already has a surplus, and they just raised registration fees and a bunch of traffic fines and property taxes, the cig tax, and want to raise the state gas tax, now this. I understand bushy has singlehandly increased the federal defecit 45% but even if the federal gov goes to shit something tells me all the VA tax funds won't go to servicing VA citizens and facilities.

i was on a construction site when 12 or 13 with a friend

we tried to get a construction job. the southerners said "your a city boy go get a city job". they laughed and told us come on sunday 6am sharp and they'd pay $13 / hr (slightly better than apprentice pay for a hard worker at the time - keeping in mind gov was 2nd best and paid less than workers at the time - and workers were in real control, not gov workers, of the country. that's true 100x over)
