WASHINGTON -- Three teenagers were arrested on Wednesday after a spree of robberies turned into a car and foot chase in Loudoun County.

The spree began around 4 a.m. when the three suspects entered a 7-Eleven in Sterling, Va., with firearms and assaulted the store clerk while demanding money. The clerk was taken to a hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries, according to a Loudoun County sheriff's release.

Thirty minutes later, the suspects attempted to rob a McDonald's on the 1000 block of Elden Street by demanding cash at the drive-thru window, the release states. After that, they entered a different McDonald's on the 300 block of Elden Street, threatened with their firearms, and robbed the restaurant.

Law enforcement from Loudoun County, Fairfax County and the Town of Herndon worked together to apprehend the suspects.

They are being held in the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center.

The car they used during the spree was stolen from the area of Nations Street in South Riding, Va. The owner of the car didn't know it had been stolen until after it was recovered, says the release.

The suspects are identified as Darius T. Foster, 18, of Aldie, Va.; Jonathan A. Jones, 18, of Aldie, Va.; and Samuel T. Johnson, 18, of Chantilly, Va.

Let me educate you all, first of all, every article that I see about this incident has them at different ages. Darius is 19, Tyler is 19, and Jonathan is 22. How do I know this? I went to school with all these dilinquents. Darius is black, Samuel is white, and Jonathan is hispanic. Just because they robbed a place, doesn't mean they're all black. It makes you seem as dumb as those three idiots.

The current thinking is that being half black makes one "black". Therefore the Samuel/Tyler kid is black, like Obama.

Unfortunately, there is a crime spree underway in Reston and it is almost exclusively young black males perpetrating it. Calling it racism to notice the obvious doesn't solve the problem.

Something, or perhaps several somethings, are seriously wrong with the way young black males are raised today in this country. You can take an American black and his genetically identical twin from Africa, bring the twin here, and the foreign twin will outperform the American in every positive metric you can measure.

Reston is a pretty egalitarian place and there are plenty of people of practically every "race" on the planet living here. (I am aware that race is not actually a scientifically consistent way to categorize ethnicities but we can have that discussion another time.) Yet almost ALL the violence comes exclusively from young black males. Not young black females. Not old black males. Not young white/Arab/Asian males even though all those ethnicities are well-represented here.

We need to have this conversation and confront whatever the problem is with this demographic - NOT with cops and force, but by getting to the root of the problem. And we need to discuss this to find out exactly what is the root of the problem.

One thing that is 100% certain is that there is a violence and crime problem that is very specific to young black males. There is no rational natural reason why such a huge proportion of violent crime should be attributable to this one group. I cannot and will not buy any argument that says blacks are inherently different morally or ethically than everyone else. This is a cultural issue not a racial one. And the culture that young black males live in is a culture of extreme violence and barbarism.

Now I can appreciate diversity as well as anyone, but putting up with this phenomenon and/or pretending it isn't happening isn't a path to a solution.

I'm quite frankly amazed that I can't avoid the conclusion that I've come to on this subject. I never ever thought in racial terms before, and have always been actively hostile to these attempts to stuff individuals into pre-cut molds based on their ethnicity, gender, or any other arbitrary surface quality. But after witnessing incident after incident where every single time - and I mean EVERY single time - the aggressor is a young black male.

So what's up, homies? What's our path to peacefully living together? What's the alternative for the rest of us, to viewing all young black males as probable threats?
