Breaking New: 3 Alarm Fire at Chantilly Country Club

Has anyone seen the fire?? It was reported at 4:45am. I just saw this on Channel 9's website. I think they have crews on the way to the scene.

When a new club can't enroll as many as projected and can't tap any more lines of credit... there's only one thing left to do... torch it. Hope nobody is hurt.

According to WTOP, no injuries.

BUt, one will recall several years ago when 2 workers were trying to use an aerial work platform on some stairs and they fell over and died.

Not sure how that is related, but good to know anyways. Lax safety standards maybe?

Actually he was a young hispanic guy painting the roof, and he fell because he wasnt harnessed per OSHA regs. (only he died)

My family is a long time member of CNCC and they remodeled the club a few years ago. A lot of members were upset because they voted on a new plan that was a lot more modern and up to date, but they ended up keeping the barn structure anyway.

Anywho...we received an email today saying the club (grill room, pro shop, etc) is closed indefinitely due to the fire. The course will reopen tomorrow at noon.

Actually, there were 2 dead guys and they were both white.

The members voted against the plan for building a new clubhouse because it would raise their dues. The Board of Directors wanted to get the plan passed. I think that the head of the Board, Mike Hudenburg, intentionally caused the fire so he would have an excuse to build the new clubhouse that he always wanted.
