Best locally-owned cheap eats?

I'm getting hungry for dinner and am curious to know where you go for a decent sit-down meal that doesn't cost an arm and a leg.

Not fast food or burgers but an honest to goodness memorable but affordable meal.

A few months ago, someone here turned me on to Dogwood Tavern in Falls Church and that was awesome. I've been back a number of times. Anywhere else y'all like?

A lot of people here either love or hate it but I'm a big fan of Anita's New Mexico. Not the cleanest place in the world but the food is delicious.

Dogwood isn't bad. Better as a bar. Arlington has places like Whitlow's, Green Pig, Liberty Tavern, all of which are good and not to expensive. Try Tallulah's Eat Place as well. In Annandale, Honey Pig is pretty righteous.

When you say cheap, do you mean go in plop down $7 and get a decent meal or do you mean a place for under $20 or so? Cheap is a relative term.

Vienna Inn was good have not been there in many years, In the 70's dinners were
1.25 Ice cold draft 37 cents and hot dogs a quarter, they did not keep a tab you went to the register and told them what you had.

Great food. I love their steak and cheese subs. The pizza is fresh plus they serve a nice Greek menu. Wonderful service too!

Delia's. There is one off Backlick in Springfield and a few others in the area. Family owned and operated and delicious Greek food.

Fair City Mall by the theater a Italian place Mama Lucia I think, They have some very good Italian specialties daily Chicken Lemon, Marsala others fresh chicken and veal they make it up right there about 9 dollars with pasta and garlic bread. Very good chicken parmasan subs and Italian cold cut subs. Not fancy at all great NY style pizza by the slice or whole pie to go.

They are across from Old Country Buffet which is not bad for AYCE lunch or dinner if you choose the right things and keep a little sanity with the deserts which are very good. 9-12 dollars lunch or dinner. Old Country is also on Rt 1 in Alexandria FX County by Hybla Valley near the new Costco being built.Old Country is a chain and also owns Ryans a AYCE place in Rednecksburg ,I mean Fednecksburg.. No Fredericksburg got it right and other places.

Delia's is decent but their prices have gone up a good deal over the past few years. I haven't been in there in a long time, but used to work across the street and even then, the prices started going up.

El Paso Mexican Reastaraunt there on Commerce in Sprinfield is pretty good. $5 specials for lunch on Tuesdays. The lunch special #8 is good but not included in the $5 specials. It is $8 but it is a massive burrito with a creamy cheese sauce and chorizo.

+1 on Momma Lucia's. Best Sicilian pizza in FFX. Good subs and salads. Carry-out is backed up in the evenings, but there is a reason for that - - it is that good. My only gripe is they do not give you soda refills - - seems like that is the norm these days so I am not sure they have not gotten on board.

I will put a second vote in for El Paso on Commerce St.

Very reasonably priced for great Mexican food.

I'd love to find something comparable and close for Kabobs.
