Herndon is one big speed trap
Posted by: wnrsm ()

I haven't gotten caught, but I have seen plenty of others get caught. I have also seen some roads have a lower speed limit once entering Herndon (with no difference in lanes or the stuff on the road itself).

Worldgate Drive is two lanes in each direction (plus turn lanes) and has a 35mph limit. Cops are writing tickets several times a week there. That road should have a higher limit.

Just like DC - stay out of Herndon. They're just looking to make money off of you under the guise of safety.

It seems that the obvious thing to do is to go beyond compliance by driving up and down Elden Street at a very safe 5 MPH on Saturdays when the businesses in Herndon make the most money. Remember to turn your turn signal on at every intersection just in case you might decided to turn.

How the hell else do you expect the town to have enough money to pay for all the services for the illegal brown locusts?

Civil disobedience, I like it! Unfortunately that could get you busted for "contempt of cop".

ooops... I thought about it. Isn't there always someone driving like that in Herndon anyway? It is usually a taxi. Pick your favorite "unfair but has to be based on something" stereotype about immigrant driving skills.

More roads to add to my "avoid" list. Herndon doesn't have anything that I would need anyways. Is there any roads anymore where we can drive without fear of getting pulled over for the slightest of speeding?

Falls Church and Haymarket have been notorious speed trap towns for as long as I can remember.

You are right about Broad St., they seem to do radar at any intersection they can squeeze in. I don't remember the last time I went to Haymarket but thanks for tip.

What makes you people so special that you feel you don't have to follow the rules?

Drive the speed limit and you won't have to worry about speed traps.

Learn the difference between the Town of Herndon (20170 and not part of Fairfax County) and the City of Herndon (also Oak Hill -- 20171). The *Town of Herndon*, off topic for this forum, is the one you're discussing. It is one big speed trap though -- lots of ridiculous 25 MPH speed limits all over with cops setup on them.

Stay the fuck out of Herndon. All of you. We do not want you here, that is why we have the police give out so many tickets. If you are discovered to be a yankee carpetbagger, they will ticket you, tune you up and ride your ass out of town on a rail. If you are an inbred southern redneck jobseeker, you will get it twice as bad. So stay the fuck out.

LOLZ You certainly can't be representing Herndon's crackpot government. The citizens' taxes alone couldn't pay their salaries, or the water bill.

Recently got a ticket in Herndon. Not stopping on a red before turning right. A few months later, I was on the same road (Herndon Pkwy). An F-150 SE drove up on my ass and kept tailgating me. I slowed down and he eventually went around me. Probably was doing 50 (35 posted). Came up on him sitting at the next red light. He kept eyeballing me in the sideview mirror. When the light turned, he nailed the gas, crossed Spring Street and slammed on the breaks to pull into a certain gated parking lot. Yeah, it was the Herndon Police Department.

Felt like sending an anonymous note to the Chief of Police. There are cops and then there are pigs.

These motherfuckers will give you a ticket for going 5mph over the speed limit, yet they turn a blind eye to the 50 Illegal Locust hanging out at the elden street 7-11 who are in this country ILLEGALLY.

Yep, very true.

I can count at least eight or so standing out front of my local 7-11 advertising their "skills" for home improvement. And not a single one with any type of federal/state ID.

This is why the word "illegal" has absolutely no meaning to me, because I used to think it meant not allowed...

Just like when the pigs race 50 MPH in a 25 to see which dipshit can make it to the sty faster.

So you broke the law and got a ticket. Then you broke the law (speeding) and didn't get a ticket but are mad because a possible police officer in the Town of Herndon (not part of Fairfax County) was also "probably" speeding.

Maybe you should just find some redneck haven that you will like better than the DC area. You really wouldn't be missed.

Slow the fuck down, or even better go move some where else. Traffic gets worse every day, we don't need needy, self important, finger pointing assholes. Go fuck yourselves.

The illegals rape W&OD joggers, stab women in the butt, get DUIs w/o license/insurance, and rape.

Maybe try reading it again. When he went around me, he proceeded to do 50 in a 35. Since he was initially TAILGATING, I wasn't going the same aforementioned speed.

I smell bacon and/or a public school education.

Don't drive like a dickhead and Herndon's finest won't pull you over. I love to see you ignorant, discoureous motorists pulled over on the side of the road getting an education on driving from our Knights in Black. Plus points if you are from out of state. Stay out of Herndon if you intend to break the law.

They already drop the speed limit as the road crosses into their turf. If everybody drove the speed limit they would drop the speed limits further.

You must be a special kind of retarded. The kind that fails when referencing your own vague post. First you said "Probably" which I referenced and quoted. Preceding that you stated:

"drove up on my ass and kept tailgating me. I slowed down and he eventually went around me."

You slowed down and he went around. You attempted "to get back at the driver" by slowing down.. likely below the speed limit and he "probably" was going 50 in a 35 when he went around you. Good one dipshit. Keep sucking at driving and funding the community.

There is a reason they drop the speed limit, you douche. You are entering a city that is heavily populated and has lots of vehicular traffic. They are even nice enough to post signs letting you know that you need to slow down. If you are stupid enough to continue to speed, you will get what you deserve. Hopefully you will then resist arrest and they will have to shoot you in your stupid face.

Holy shit, you probably ARE a cop. :) I was doing between 43-45 in a 35 as usual. Slowed down to about 40 when he started tailgating me. The referenced ticket was my first in 4.5 years.

Judging by your screen name, I'm not sure why I expected an intelligent response. Maybe you should think about what you type before you respond from your iPhone.

The city I am entering is no more heavily populated than the city I'm leaving, you douche. I also see two lanes in each direction plus turn lanes with office parks (and no residential driveways) at 35mph - and some fucker in a beater seized car with a radar gun and a cash register.

They post signs letting you know because it is required by law and is a technicality they can use to not be be called out for the revenue generating speed trap that it is.

Herndon cops don't shoot people in the face. There's too much risk of a lawsuit that would be expensive to defend and even more expensive if they lose.

There is trickery about. The day they catch you for speeding with these unreasonably low speed limits will be a good one. Maybe they'll taze you in the face.

Great failed response again. Full of unrelated items and new "facts." Especially like the use of "screen name." Confirmed you as an AOL user. Anyway, like I said keep donating to the education fund. Good work. You must get angry a lot and make a lot of assumptions. Use this as a learning moment. Don't even bother to reply. Just stop and go do something productive besides raging.

Dear Officer Lolwut,

Way to repeat everything you said in your last response and confirming me as an AOL user. Quite the gumshoe. Speaking of education, what kind of degree is required for lighting up your roof when you don't feel like waiting at a red light? What kind of keen intellect is involved with randomly running plates in front of you? Have no fear, I had a full day of productivity and visit this site site before I head home feeling good about the work I accomplished. Hopefully you can do the same.

They love to catch people on Wiehle after it crosses Fairfax County Parkway into Herndon where the limit immediately drops to 35 from 45.

Spring Street near Herndon Parkway is another. They catch people coming off Fairfax County Parkway and heading toward downtown Herndon.

All areas mentioned thus far are the Town of Herndon and not part of Fairfax County. This entire post is off topic. Get this shit out of here.

Not that I think this thread is worth the bits it's written with, but last time I checked, Herndon was IN Fairfax County. What are you on about?

Not really an issue if you just drive the appropriate speeds...

I've lived in Herndon for 16 years, and only had one ticket on World Gate back in the late 90's. Cop was nice too, wrote down a reckless to speeding.

Use Wuze Navigation and you'll be str8 the more the people that use it the better it is to know where speed traps are.

There is the Town of Herndon .. see the "Town" part which is zip code 20170 (the subject of this thread). It's not part of Fairfax County.

There is the City of Herndon which is zip cod 20171. It is part of Fairfax County.

Hmm. The links below make me think that Herndon *is* part of the County, whereas Fairfax City and Falls Church are not. But neither is definitive.

Interesting...

Let's define, specifically, the boundaries of Fairfax County so that this thread can be put in the right forum.

Hey OCD freaks and trolls - People from Fairfax Count often and unfortunately find themselves in Herndon from time to time.

Whatever you do, don't post about the speed traps in Fairfax City.
