I think I am going to be sick. They need to name the sewage treatment plant in Lorton after him, much more fitting.

This is disgusting, but what is even more so, is the ego of backers of politicians, or those in the legislative business themselves. Senators Harkin and the one from PA who died from cancer, named buildings and other areas after themselves. The egos behind such activity, regardless of where it comes from is outrageous.

I like the sewage plant the best for gerry, as he is a piece of shit.

So I guess that we'll have to pay a tax every time we want to use a trail, there will be excessive politically correct regulations, and there will be glossy Connolly updates (i.e. campaign ads) posters paid for at taxpayer expense.

Why does it need to be named after anyone? It seems like our country has fallen into the dangerous trend of worshipping politicians and athletes.

For being a fairly non-descript congressman from Virginia (especially considering we have the douche among douche pencil dick Cantor also from virginia) you assholes sure do love hating on your congressional representative.

Have you considered moving and stopping the teet sucking hypocrisy that I'm sure all of you are guilty of?

The real douche Congressman from Va also represents part of FFX county: Jim Moron, of course.

BTW, your criticism of Cantor is anti-semetic. Bigot.

I wouldn't care if they named it after him if he were dead and no longer doing harm to the area and America.

Naming something for Gerry has been discussed quietly for several years. Gerry's first choice was to have the southern end of the Fairfax County Parkway named for him. It's always bugged him that most of the parkway is named for Jack Herrity. When that didn't happen, other options were considered, including a possible new 22031/22032 post office. Eventually Gerry's staff approached the Park Authority Board about the trail.

Several supervisors also called members of the Park Authority to lobby for Connolly. Some balked because there are a few people who were far more instrumental in solving the many problems that needed to be overcome to build a continuous trail. It is also unprecedented to name something for a politician who is still in office.

In the end, the FCPA board recognized where there money comes from and "humble" Gerry Connolly got his name on the trail.

Oh I'm sorry I couldn't hear you because you didnt respond to a single fucking thing I said. Cantor still a pencil dicked douche, regardless of what his "religion" is. I wouldn't care if he was a zen bhuddist second coming of the dalai lama, he's a douche and a hypocrite just like you

Keep suckling on the federal teet and then complaining about it though, that gives you serious cred.

-From a resident who would love to see you move or get hit in the face by a truck.

By the way, to the person who wished death on a sitting congressman, not a smart move on your behalf bro just some advice you might want to avoid that.

Now wishing a truck smacks into an anonymous and nameless moron on this website, that is fine cause. See the difference?

What did Annandale ever do to you?

Let's see if we can be bi-partisan about this: Keep the Cross County Trail name, dump the Herrity designation for the Fairfax Parkway, and change Reagan National back to just National.

Or it could be that he, unlike Herrity, actually had a hand in making the trail possible as well as increasing bike facilities in the county.

How can you deny that Jack Herrity played an integral part in getting the Parkway (AKA Springfield Bypass) built? A modicum of research will show it is true...
Also, citing FABB as a legitimate resource is a bit laughable.

Why? FABB is a legitimate resource, sorry they don't fit your right wing needs of Infowars and Breitbart, not everyone can have that kind of journalistic integrity

Herrity didn't create the parkway plan, VDOT did, he simply asked for higher priority of it. Connolly on the other hand formed the bike master planning committee and cited this location as needing a bike trail before FCDOT or VDOT.

I don't have any remote interest in Alex Jones or his type nor am I right wing; FABB is pro-cyclists to the detriment of other tranpsortation modes.I dont believe they're unbiased to say the least. I obviously disagree on the Herrity front. Were you at the public meetings back in the 80s-90s? Herrity was instrumental in getting this done--if VDOT actually builty according to their plans homes on Clara Barton Drive wouldn't even exist today. Sure that's only a small example but to say he only "asked for higher priority" is lame and factually incorrect.

When Gerry Connolly wants to make use of the Cross-County Trail, he sends one of his minions out to walk or ride on it. You won't catch the fatass/lardbutt Gerry doing anything remotely resembling physical activity.

Wrong. The reason the parkway (and other roads) have/had four-digit route numbers were because they were county initiatives that were created outside the VDOT process.

Ironic that it was Jack Herrity's son Pat who successfully lobbied for VDOT to take over maintenance and upgrade the parkway to state standards, resulting in the change to three-digit route numbers.

Your article was posted by Bruce Wright, who worked for Democratic Supervisor Cathy Hudgins of the Hunter Mill District. Wright was Hudgins' representative on the county's trails and sidewalk committee until 2008 - maybe the trail should be named after him? On the other hand, their reputation is being hurt by the unrestricted development being allowed around the new Metro stations and the traffic messes sure to come, so maybe that's not a great idea.

Congressman Connolly was quoted as saying, “There are a lot of people who share this honor with me. This project is a true example of what can happen when the local community, volunteers and our elected officials work together."

Would anyone care to share 5 or 10 names of those who shared the honor with Connolly?
