Fairfax County invites you to a County Forum on Creating a Livable Community for Older Adults. This is your chance to share ideas on ensuring the county continues to be a livable, lifelong community for its growing older population. The forum is on Thursday, July 11, 2013, 9- 11 a.m. at the Ravensworth Baptist Church, 5100 Ravensworth Road, Annandale, Va. Go to www.fairfaxcounty.gov/olderadults for the registration link or call 703-324-5411, TTY 711. . Unless they're my grandparents, I don't want to see old people. There are plenty of places in Florida we can hide these people.

It seems a little late for this. There isn't much land to build such a community. Ranch style homes are rare around here. Stairs are not good for seniors yet almost every house, town home, and condo has them - with bedrooms and baths upstairs. This would be a tough place to grow old. Expensive, kids everywhere, high taxes, stairs wherever you go, not many dining selections that are comfortable and food friendly for seniors.
