Report: Reagan National Among Worst for Connecting Flights

Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport ranks as one of the worst airports in the country for connections, according to a new list from CNBC based on government data.

Reagan National is the eighth-worst airport in the United States for catching a connection, placing it in a tie with an airport named after Reagan’s vice president—George Bush Intercontinental in Houston.

Reagan National ranked 22nd for on-time arrival performance over a 12-month period ending in April and has fallen behind Dulles International for efficiency in the past quarter.

According to the CNBC report:

"As a portal to D.C., Baltimore-Washington International may not be as close to the Capitol, and may not afford glimpses of passing members of Congress, but BWI may allow you to get home on time."

Good. I hope they publish more articles like this saying how bad NATIONAL Airport is. That way more of the rookies around here will haul their asses out to BWI and Dulles and less people will be connecting through and won't be in my way slowing me down and otherwise fucking me up.

I could care less about connecting flights. As far as getting in and out of it's one of the best in the country. Probably the best for a major city.

At least DCA is fairly small and easy to get around. Connecting out of Dulles can be a real unpleasant experience, especially if your flight is late and you're landing at the A gates and your connecting flight is all the way at the end of the D terminal. The place is just too inconvenient to get around if you're in a major hurry.

hah you must be on crack - it takes 30 minutes to walk from one end of DCA to the other. there is no point A to point B in IAD that would take that long. C & D are actually connected and you can quickly get to the others via people mover or aerotrain (which sucks btw imo) from A<>C

Umm, unless you have a real physical problem it would not take you a 1/2 hour to traverse DCA. It might be 1,500 feet from one end to another.

Having to walk/run that same distance and wait for that stupid aerotrain to the C/D terminal, at Dulles is pretty stressful if you only have 5-10 minutes to catch your connection.

In fact, anyone who thinks IAD is easier to navigate than DCA is crazy.

Who cares when you're in/out from here and not connecting through.

One word: Dulles

The problem with DCA and connecting flights to go from one wing in the main terminal to another, you have to go outside security and go backthrough security. They do run a shuttle van between the wings, but it is a van and it isn't really marked clearly on where to go for it.

I used to fly out of there all the time whne I lived up in Alexandria. I liked it because there weren't as many people catching flights, so the security wait was way less than Dulles at the time. I could leave my partment and within a half hour, be behind security waiting to board my flight.

You quite obviously have never been to DCA. Please don't bother to post until you've gone. Now you can be slightly informed if you ever actually do go. You must also re-enter through security if changing terminals as well.

I've never connected out of DCA, but do love it for direct flights---arrival or departure, never a bad experience!
