The Amtrak Auto Train goes from Sanford, Florida to Lorton, VA. Woohoo.

Judging from that map, the dot for Lorton is about where Richmond is.

so I can take my car conveniently down to Sanford to take in some sun and the post-acquittal riots, and scoot back to DC by Sunday evening. nice!

NOT taking the train might be what resulted in Buzz Burbank leaving the Mike O'Meara Show. Let's see, we could put the car on a train and snooze, or we could drive 15 hours with the poster-boy for rage at the wheel. Hmmmm.

12 - 13 hour drive

Scheduled to take the Auto train in October. I hope everything has quieted down by then. The area where the train loads in not in the downtown, so probably would be OK. Riots usually flare up where business are, to break windows and stuff.
