Robbery in Springfield Area
Franconia Police District – Police responded to an armed robbery that occurred Monday, June 24. Around 10:20 p.m. a 27-year-old man attempted to purchase electronics from two men the victim had met online. After meeting at the Franconia-Springfield Metro “kiss and ride”, the victim and two suspects proceeded to a parking garage in the 6500 block of Springfield Mall, where one of the suspects displayed a handgun and demanded cash. The victim complied and the two suspects fled on foot.
The first suspect was described as black, in his 20’s, about 6 feet tall, weighing around 180 pounds, with shoulder length dreadlocks. The second suspect was described as black, in his 20’s, about 5 feet 7 inches tall, with short hair.
Police remind buyers and sellers using online services to proceed with caution. Meet during daylight hours, never alone, and in a public place. Transactions with strangers can be risky and all those involved need to take precautions to protect their safety.
