My kid cleaned and packed up the classroom for the teacher. She did nothing but sit at her desk and order them around. Is this common in fairfax county?

FCPS is not only known nationally but people actually move to Fairfax so that their kids can be in the FCPS system! LOL.

2 finals, one of which sounded somewhat bogus, plus turned in textbooks.

Is that all You FFX County parents do? Bitch and moan about how unfair the school is? How about....try raising children to have a F-in BACKBONE.

Today we got an email saying (slight paraphrase):

Yes, it says the equivalent of "If she comes to school" without actually saying "Your kid doesn't have to come to school tomorrow".

We always had to clean the room and pack at the end of the school year in elementary school. And middle school. Big deal. Like kids are going to do any studying with 2 days left? The school year is done. Get over it.

And yes I went to a FCPS elementary school. I also went to 3 other elementary schools around the country and it was the same thing.

Not shit since the last SOL. I've been asking every day, generally watching movies or episodes of old TV shows. I expect we'll get all the shit that was in their desks/lockers coming home with them on Tuesday.

30 days? I work at a high school.It's been a playground since the week before Memorial day! So much for not enough instructional time, if you only really knew.

Education is not free. Supported by tax dollars. So if as a parent I want teachers teaching and not showing movies, I will speak up

I just want you all to know that my students watched inside job today what since we took our ap final at the beginning of may. Previous class we watched trading places and Wall Street...I know you all think this is terribly inappropriate and a waste of your tax dollars and you know what I agree...so here's what you so call the county then the state and demand school start two weeks before Labor Day so I don't have to babysit your child who doesn't give to shits about school after the sols and ap exams...wait you don't want to so that because it would mess up your late August summer plans to see great aunt Hortence who might die and leave you a million dollars...then don't complain...hey I like my job but hell if your not gonna push your kid to adhere to the fact that the work I ask them to do post sol is meaningful then I'll just babysit your little angel (who by the way it actually a heathen and you know it)

My son and daughters never did a tning doing the last days of school. I wish I could have a job where I only work 180 days a day for 7 hours and the last week I don't do shit

School is more than SOLs and AP exams. Therein lies problem. We are focused on wrong things. There are better things to do with last weeks of school than watch Wall Street. Teachers care enough to use your imaginations. Do right stuff and kids will pay attention

My child's teacher made them lay their heads on their desks the entire time. But played rag time jazz. Sounds like torture to me.

Our students continued punctuation practice, multiplication, and community events.

Overhaul the whole education system. From top to bottom

Ban AP. eliminate SOLs. Really teach. Then calendar of no importance

The children that I know do not want to return home to such an uptight mop.
