Had an errand to run down in PWC. Took what on a weekend is usually a pleasant drive and came across the polite county officer turning us around. I did so and made it around the back on Henderson. I noted that I was solo in doing so, but better that than 123 to Old Bridge. ick.

If there was a crotch rocket involved he/she was most likley at fault and most likely is now taking the dirt nap.

I live on Maple Branch and walked down to the intersection to have a look and all I could see was a blue car with a tarp over it ( I assumed fatality) and pieces of debris all over the road.

PS. Stabitha you're a moron.

I came upon the accident just after it happened and before help arrived. The guy had a pulse but was not doing well. I tried assisting but there was not much to be done. I will be shocked if he made it.

I drive the roads around there frequently and wondered when an accident like this would occur. Just last week I was driving on Henderson and was horrified when I realized a motorcyclist was in my lane, attempting to pass a car(double yellow line, completely blind hill). I nearly hit him head on but he swerved back in his lane with a few feet to spare.

The man involved is in critical condition. Information regarding who was "at fault" has not been released. Thoughts and prayers during this time in the place of snide, thoughtless remarks would be appreciated. This could have been someone close to you.

I was driving by shortly after the accident. I The driver of the motorcycle was pretty messed up. The EMT's had not arrived yet so I did what I could. My son got a lake braddock blanket from the car and I placed it on the victim. It was all I could do. Putting a blanket on a person with severe injuries can mean the difference between life and death.... Prayers for those involved.

I live in Clifton and travel on Maple Branch Rd. daily. I drive
a small SUV and always approach the intersection at Clifton Rd with CAUTION.

VDOT should do something to make the intersection safer at both ends of this road. It is really difficult to see who is coming up the hill, people are in such a hurry to get to their destination, that they turn too soon when turning left onto Maple Branch Rd. frequently causing people to slam on their brakes. Another example of this is at the intersection of Wolf Run Shoals and Chapel Rd.

The minority is faced to look out for the majority turning left and coming into the oncoming lane. If not for living in this area and having this experience on a regular basis, I myself could certainly have been in an accident, no fault of my own.

The truth is people need to slow down adequately before turning blindly or too quickly in front of others leaving them no time to get out of the way or stop.

I am so thankful that people stayed on the scene and did what they could for the injured, and kept others from becoming part of an already terrible accident.

I pray the person hurt survives and goes on to lead a productive and wonderful life. I am also praying for the wrongful party and the insensitive people.

Bottom Line:
VDOT needs to improve these poor intersections, and people need to slow it down before turning.

VDOT is cutting back in funds to Fairfax now that Fairfax has its own tax to pay for roads. You should contact your congressman and tell them that the state has abandoned its obligations to the citizens

How come these accidents are not reported in the news? Is it because we have so many car accidents and unless a death occurs it is not reported. I searched the police web site and the Patch and nothing was reported.

It's not reported in the news because the police didn't put out a press release on it. No press release = no news report.

Most "news" these days is just rewritten press releases, statements, etc.

It's not worth what it would cost to have a reporter actually go out and do several hours of investigation for what would ultimately be 1-3 paragraphs of story.

Don't reporters simply get a print out list of crime reports and vehicle reports that can be published? A few emails, faxes, and phone calls and the job is done.

It's true that the young man in this accident passed away after many days in the ICU fighting for his life while his family and friends waited anxiously to hear about changes in his condition. The lives of those who knew him will never be the same. This is especially so for his parents whose grief is greater than you can possibly imagine unless you have lost a child.

Those of you who choose to write the nasty insensitive remarks should take some time to examine your own lives for this accident is just a reminder that one's whole existence can change in an instant. Greater energy and happiness is gained by spreading joy and positivity rather than nastiness and pain. Only you are impressed by your nasty remarks. No one else thinks you are clever or smart or brave or any other thing of which you would be proud.

Life can be short. Spend it positively. Tell those close to you that you love them.

My family knows the victims mother. The Prius was stopped waiting to make a lefthand turn and the motorcycle came up the hill around the blind curve and hit the Prius from behind. A car could easily do the same thing without it being a fatality. There are motorcycle drivers who are reckless and dangerous on the roads, this accident was not the case.

The motorcycle rider was my husband. He passed away on July 2nd from the injuries he sustained. The driver of the Pruis was a nurse and supported him until medical personnel arrived. It was a head on collision. He fought as hard as he could to stay alive- I hope the driver of the car is not injured and has said a prayer for my husband. I am sure he is smiling down on all of us- not a bad bone in that mans body. He would have been 26 in 3 weeks. I love you and miss you Tommy.....

Way to express your grief on on a board that mocks death. You lose.

Typical humans, driving their pollutionmobiles and spewing out smoke. To die by a Prius, is a lowly way to die indeed.

Going too fast "up the hill around the blind curve" to safely avoid a collision with a turning car is being "reckless and dangerous on the roads." Just flat out irresponsible. If this is how it happened the motorcyclist's insurance should be paying out. At least his rates won't be going up.

In process of being EX husband, don't forget to include that. Hard to take you sincerely when you are dating someone new. Next time leave it at good friend or just do everyone a favor and say nothing at all.

She might have done that if she didn't understand the nature of this site.

The header says "a project site designed to improve communication among residents of Fairfax County, VA", and some people take that at face-value.

Pretty comfy, actually.

With the entire world being so crazy, it hurts a bit less once you just stop struggling and accept that you're a part of it, too.
