The Metro doesn't go to Tysons Corner yet, so it's still quicker to take the Beltway.

Where are you coming from?

I will assume Alexandria.

Here are your estimated travel times:

Beltway: 10-15 minutes
Metro: 6 months and 1 hour

Metro Directions
a. wait until January 2014
b. make your way to the nearest station, let's say Huntington
c. take the metro and get off at Rosslyn
d. Transfer to the orange/blue line towards Vienna/Fairfax
e. Get off at East Falls Church
f. Transfer to the Silver Line towards Wiehle Avenue
g. Get off at the tysons central station
h. Walk to the mall

As of right now I would take the beltway, unless you can wait 6 months to take your shopping trip.

You could also metro to west falls church or dunn loring if you'd like and take a bus, but why do something so stupid?

And don't worry, I will keep this confidential.

This is the most ridiculous question I've seen on FFX. Besides the fact that you can't even take the Metro to Tyson's, you don't even give a point of origin for reference.

HOW IN THE FUCK CAN SOMEONE TELL YOU WHAT IS QUICKER IF THEY DON'T EVEN KNOW WHERE YOU ARE COMING FROM.

Go fuck yourself retard.

Probably a reference to the rash of [drunken] drivers turning onto the trail as of late.

Edit: Oh, n/m. Just saw you're the trolling OP.

You must be new to this area. The Silver Line won't open until at least December 2013. The Silver Line will take you to Tysons. Depending on where you live, it might take an hour to go by Metro. It can take 15 minutes to go by the Beltway.

For example, let's say you live near the Franconia-Springfield station, which makes me feel badly for you, just by the way. You'd have to get onto a Blue Line train towards Largo (the Blue Line runs every 12 minutes due to Rush+). Then, you'd have to transfer to the Orange Line heading towards Vienna and get off at West Falls Church. From West Falls Church, you'd have to get on a Silver Line train heading towards Wiehle. That's 3 trains. Don't forget the ridiculous prices of Metro as well.

That's why it'll take at least an hour to get to Tysons. The 6 months refers to the amount of time until the Silver Line opens.

So let me make sure I get this.

I have to wait six months and then I would have to walk to the Franconia Station then I would get off at Largo Station. Then I would take the Orange Line to Vienna. Then I would take the Orange Line to Falls Church West. Then I will take the Silver Train to Wiehle. That is helpful but at what point do I get to the Tysons Station?

Also, if I took the beltway should I take the outer loop or inner loop? At what point does the beltway hit 495?? Thanks for your help everyone!

It depends on where you live. You wouldn't necessarily have to walk to the Franconia-Springfield station, but let's say you do. You'd take the train in the direction of Largo Town Center, but get off at Rosslyn, a station with a transfer point for the Orange Line in the direction of Vienna. Then, you'd get off at West Falls Church, where you'd transfer to the Silver Line train in the direction of Wiehle Ave. However, you'd get off at one of the Tysons metro stops before you reach Wiehle. The signage is generally decent on the Orange Line, and you'll hear the station being announced if you're lucky enough.

Yeah, you'd have to wait 6 months, but that's only because the Silver Line doesn't open for another 6 months.

Metro is nothing but a horizontal elevator with all of the buttons pressed.

If take the elevator will I have to wait six months for it? Does it cost the same as taking the blue to the orange to the silver?

Why are you all going back and forth w/ the OP? Classic trolling behavior.

Uses a ridiculous anonymous handle and then starts a thread w/ a very ambiguous question that doesn't have any information on where he's coming from. Then when someone points that out, he claims they're being "meen" and posts a bunch of animated gifs. Doesn't mention being from out of the area at all, but finds this website somehow and then acts clueless about the silver line and why it would take 6 months. Also, intentionally misinterprets Metro directions, but again, never mentions unfamiliarity with the area.

Come on people...

East Falls Church, not West Falls Church. The Silver Line will not serve West Falls Church, as its tracks join/depart from the existing Orange Line tracks to the east of said stop.

I assume this thread was intended as a joke, just like "snowdenscold" said. But if you're going to Tysons Corner Center (the original mall at Tysons), the best route is the Beltway's "Express Lanes" to the Westpark Drive exit. Left at the top of the ramp, left again at the next light, and you're directly in front of the parking garage outside where Woodies used to be. Much easier and faster than looping around via Route 7 or Route 123.
