Bring back "Jack-in-the-Box"
Posted by: Do you know what FFX Needs? ()

Recently been on several business trips this year and God how I have missed going to "Jack-in-the-Box". Those cheap 2-for-1 Tacos they have. Does anyone remember and/or missing "Jack-in-the-Box"? God I do!

Stoners in California enjoy the $6 Jack-in-the-Box munchie meal (after 9pm).

"For six dollars, a Jack’s Munchie Meal includes two tacos, a drink, an order of Halfsies — half curly, half regular fries — and one of the following entrees:

Brunch Burger – A croissant bun topped with a beef patty, fried egg, hash browns bacon, and cheese.

Exploding Cheesy Chicken Sandwich – A chicken sandwich topped with mozzarella cheese sticks and a white cheese sauce.

Stacked Grilled Cheese Burger – A sourdough grilled cheese sandwich on top of a burger.

Loaded Nuggets – Chicken nuggets topped with two kinds of cheese, ranch dressing, and bacon." Yum.

The Popeyes on route 7 near Skyline, the Popeyes on 236 Near John Marr Drive were both Jack in the Box. Also there was one at Gallows and Lee highway, since torn down for road improvements.

I love JITB's nasty tacos. Yes, they're nasty and greasy little things, but they are addictive.

That's Chuck-e-Cheese, not Jack in the Box.

Such a bummer that Jack isn't around here. It would probably do well here too.

Went to see Jack in LA not long ago, they have totally fagged up the menu with wraps and "calorie conscious" stuff.

Frings not available.

It did VERY well here, but when the first big E-Coli thing happened to them back in the 80's, they pulled all the units east of the Rockies and centered mostly on California....a true shame because it could very well may have been a meat supplier issue.

There was one in Mclean, across from the old firehouse. Closed in the early 80's.

Jack in the Box tacos are pretty dam good.

At Trader Joe's, they have these little chicken tacos that you microwave that are pretty dam close.

Went out to Phoenix a few months ago, and had me a Jack in the Box fiesta.

For all the haters that say they are greasy, unhealthy, made with who knows what, you may be right.

But who cares, they are fricking good...

Are you serious? How close? I'm craving JITB tacos after seeing this thread.

I love convention trips to Vegas. Coworkers don't get why I never stay on the strip at the convention hotels... fuck that, there's no Jack in the Box on the Strip. I stay at the cheap chains away from the strip just to be near west coast goodness like Jack in the Box and motherfucking Del Taco.

I do miss Jack in the Box. Gone from here long before the internet arrived.

I also crave Steak and Shake. Wish there was one in Fairfax City.

You mean Maryland Parkway in Vegas? The one near Sahara or the one down south near UNLV? I've been to both :) I prefer the JITBs to the west of I-15. I don't feel like I'm taking my life into my hands as much when I go into the ones on the west side. Maryland Parkway? Strictly late-night drive-through, with a knife at the ready.

LOL. Yeah, off strip Vegas can be quite an adventure. And depressing. Jack in the Box is my happy place when I'm out there.

Yes I loved JIB with their old menu and the Tacos are a cult like thing see the thread "what I miss most here" . I went to the Steak & Shake in F.Burg there still there got a ice cold burger.. No hurry to go back there I will say that.

I remember JIB had a Jumbo Jack and some other stuff but I always went to Annandale late for those greasy tacos.

JIB closed around here because they were a San Diego Ca based business. I lived there late 60's and loved them there and was so happy and astounded they were here in 1970. In San Diego their founder also had his original business the "Oscars Drive In" and when I was a kid in 1959 we would get the fish sandwiches and I loved those too. They live in my mind as the "best fried fish sandwich I ever had" The same way the "Best Tuna sandwich" I every had my mother made me at age 9 on French bread as well as other Bests.

In any even JIB expanded too far too soon and got in trouble in other market areas, the result ..they had to close the NOVA JIB's too, That was a bummer cause these places here were booming. You would think they would come back her again.

There are some Jack in the Boxes east of the Rockies: several in OH, TN, NC and SC.

The closest one is about a 6 hour drive from Fairfax.

Take 66-W to 81-S and take 77-S just before Wytheville. Exit 50. And it's open 24 hours so no matter when you head out, they'll be open when you arrive in Statesville, NC.

What are you waiting for?

I just went out of town last weekend and had Jack-in-the-box everyday. To give you an idea of how much I ate, everyday that I went I ordered 20 tacos. That's $10 (not including tax) because its two tacos for 99 cents.

Get my JITB taco fix every summer in St Louis.

Once a long time ago Ralston Purina owned Jack in the Box. Always wondered if they put the better quality meat in their dog food......

Dude! Thanks for posting that.

I went to that Jack in the Box this past weekend and ate there every day! I had business down that way and made the stop. I am seriously considering making an out and back Jack in the Box run again this weekend. No business down that way for me for a while. I just want more Jack in the Box deliciousness.

I saw this thread a week or so ago, but couldn't comment until now. I can't believe there are others out there who crave JB tacos. Since I was a kid, they have always been a sinful pleasure. I once contacted the company to complain there were none around here and was told JB pulled out east of the Mississippi.

Anyway, whenever I get to Texas, CA, or anywhere a JB is, i'm there. They've changed the menu a lot, but you can still get that greasy, nasty taco.
