Anyone know what is going on? Maybe adding more parking? Also what's up with Chain Bridge road heading south before Braddock? They changed it from a straight to a windy road.

They're renovating University Mall and changing the road configuration / adding more roads.

University mall will now have a 3 level parking deck but no worries as Henry's wrecker service has two more low profile trucks on order that are designed to tow from parking garages.

I think GMU construction is responsible for the current configuration, but I believe there are plans to reconstruct the Braddock Road/Route 123 intersection as well. I'm not sure they have decided on the final plans, though. I do know they will eliminate the traffic light and have some type of overpass/underpass. But, who knows when that will happen...

The Ox Road (not Chain Bridge) construction is a construction of a new set of bridges over a campus road to alleviate congestion around campus.

University Mall is undergoing a complete overhaul and they are tearing out the old brick wall in the back of the shopping center first.

In reply to justanother, there is a plan to change the intersection of Braddock and Ox into an overpass as well, here is the design for that. (unrelated to GMU, designed by FCDOT and VDOT)

Thanks for all the information. Looks like University Mall is going to get a very nice facelift. I noticed they were doing some work on it.

Holy crap it's about fucking time! You should have seen it when GMU delayed the widening of Braddock because they'd lose their precious buffer of trees. Then VEPCO came in and took them out anyway when they upgraded the high voltage lines, ha! What a CF it was to get anywhere near GMU at that time.
