Reston Police District – Fairfax County Police are investigating a fatal crash that took place on the Fairfax County Parkway in the early morning hours of June 1.

Detectives are investigating whether speed and alcohol may be factors involving the at-fault driver of the crash and two counts of aggravated involuntary manslaughter charges are pending. Identifications are being withheld pending notification to next of kin.

The southbound lanes of the Fairfax County Parkway have been re-opened; however the northbound may be closed for the ongoing investigation.

Another stupid drunk driver. How come every time a bad drunk driver crashes, they have to take an innocent person with them? I've been driving drunk for 15+ years and the one time I've ever been involved in an accident is when I was sober. I've been followed by cops and navigated some windy roads in terrible weather, but I still can keep myself together. Some people simply can't drink and drive, and those people make the rest of us look bad.

How come every time a bad drunk driver crashes, they have to take an innocent person with them?

They didn't take an innocent with them -- they killed two innocents and are still around. We've got to pay for prosecuting them.

I wonder if the taxi driver was wearing a seat belt and the two passengers were not. I can't imagine how the driver up front survived and the two in the back died. The asshole must have hit them at 55+ mph. The crash scene must have been in a 1,000 pieces.

Virginia man charged in deadly Fairfax wreck

A 24-year-old Herndon man has been charged with two counts of aggravated involuntary manslaughter after a deadly crash killed two men and seriously injured a taxi driver.

Manuel Alejandro Jimenez Benitez of Rolling Fork Circle was driving a 2004 Chevy Trailblazer on Fairfax County Parkway around 1:45 a.m. Saturday when he veered into the opposite lanes near Wiehle Avenue, according to Fairfax County Police.

The Trailblazer was traveling with "excessive speed," according to police. The taxi driver, a 47-year-old Herndon man whose name was not released, tried to avoid being hit as he traveled in the opposite lanes, police said. But the vehicles collided.

The two passengers in the taxi, a 29- and 34-year-old who lived together in Sterling, were not wearing seatbelts. Both men died at the scene. Police had not released their names as of Sunday morning as they were still trying to reach family members, who live outside of the country.

The taxi driver was hospitalized with serious, life-threatening injuries. Jimenez Benitez sustained injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

Police are still investigating but said they believe alcohol and speed were contributing factors.

He was arrested on 3/24/2013 for Possession of Marijuana. His first court hearing was 5/8/2013, in which the defendant requested a continuance. His next court appearance is 6/5/2013 at 9:30 AM. It won't be hard to find him.

His charges for Driving under a revoked or suspended license, expired rejection sticker, and Defective equipment generally all occurred on 4/17/2013. His court date is 6/18/2013.

His new claim to fame Involuntary Manslaughter court date is 8/13/2013, of which his arrest date was 6/1/2013.
