Interesting that she is speaking at the McLean Community Center. The MCC is fleecing area homeowners with the special tax district designation added to real estate taxes. MCC currently has over a $15 million surplus. The Board of Directors are more interested in spending the money on wasteful projects instead of returning the money to taxpayers. Ultra liberal Supervisor Faust is letting the BoD have their way. The special tax was only meant to finance the original MCC building, which is now paid off. The tax should be abolished!

Republican Ernie Burger who was once the BOS supervisor in McLean around 1991-95 had no use for libraries, rec centers, any kind of county services but he adored the MCC because of its vocalist and opera singers. He had no prob with that special tax which also funds the operating costs of the building. They voted for it in McLean many years back and it a cent or two extra on the tax bill which in McLean may be a hundred dollars a year mo tax. This one is not just a Dem issue its a two way street.

I see her frustration but more gun laws are not the answer. Criminals will simply ignore the additional feel good laws that are passed. The only ones effected are the law abiding who were never the problem in the first place.

IMO the culprit here is the breakdown of the family. Many kids are left to raise themselves and thus you have the predictable outcome. Even in some two parent homes the problems arise where they have a handsoff approach to laying down the law to the children. Instead they seek to be the kids best friend and not a parent. There is a difference.
