Surprise! You're not going to Fairfax High School

I wonder where these kids will go now. I went the Lanier--> FHS route in the 1990s.

WASHINGTON - Some students in Fairfax County will have to plan on going to a different school, starting in 2014.

About 500 students will be changing schools in 2014, because of new boundaries in the county that were approved by the school board on Thursday.

The plan is to move students away from an overcrowded Fairfax High School, as well as its feeder school, Lanier Middle School. Right now, Fairfax High has 2,600 students - 9 percent above capacity. The Washington Post reports that there was concern enrollment could shoot past 3,000 within 5 years.

The school board approved the plan Thursday, despite objections from those who said it created too much uncertainty for parents and students.

Fairfax Villa students who would have gone to Lanier/Fairfax will now go to Frost/Woodson. Its been in the news for months, there were extensive community meetings and its detailed on FCPS.edu.

Aren't the displaced FHS students going to Oakton or Woodson?

There are Fairfax kids being moved to Woodson, Oakton and Chantilly, and Woodson kids in Fairfax Station getting moved to Robinson.

FHS IS A GOOD SCORE OVER 90% PASSING IN THE SOL TEST
