Looks like the driver took a chance and fled. Likely a great choice in this case as they will never find him if he is smart. He should drive to MD or DC or even WV to get his car fixed as they will be looking for his paint color at local body shops.

I don't see any paint transfer in that picture. Could it be that the officer simply lost conrol of his vehicle and is now concocting this story? Just a possibility is all I am saying.

I'm sure they checked the dash cam before sending out the press release.

dash cams don't run 24/7 on the car

Driving home from DC around 10:30 last night on 395S there was a cop behind me in a blue unmarked car with VA plates, he sped up to tailgate me, switched lanes, sped up, slowed down, changed lanes, and so forth. At first I thought he was after me, then he pulled ahead and slowed down a couple times and I realized that he was just drunk. Big cop convention in the city yesterday, tons of officers drinking up in all the bars around the Verizon Center.

That's the type of damage you get when you change lanes without looking to see if there is a car in your blind spot.

I'm confused.

"a Fairfax County police cruiser was traveling southbound on Gallows Road. An unknown vehicle was traveling westbound on Masonville Drive when it disregarded a stop sign and entered Gallows Road."

How in the world could the passenger side of the cruiser be damaged from the right front passenger side of the suspect vehicle given the direction of travel of both vehicles? If the cop is driving South and the suspect is driving west, the suspect vehicle is driving TOWARDS the driver side of the cop car, not the passenger side.

I smell bs. Idont see how that damage could have been on the passenger side of the cruiser given the cop was going south and the other car was going west. BS. Look at the roads - had someone run that stop sign he would have hit the cruiser on the driver's side.

Also I do not see any paint from another car on the cruiser. They have to make up a story when a cop gets drunk and hits crap...

FCPD struck, and injured an Illegal Immigrant walking on Gallows. The officer, and the Immigrant were both drunk at the time. To avoid getting fired for a DUI the FCPD officer murdered, and buried the Immigrant right of Gallows rd.

If you really are a cop (which you're not) that's a threat AND an abuse of power.

But hey guys, what do you say we just bump this thread regularly for the next week or so... just for shits and giggles?

Anyways ... It is a strange story. Why did the cop not take chase? Cop was uninjured and the damage seems minimal. Aren't cop trained to observe? Seems like a grandma description of the car that hit and run.

Did anyone buy the cop's obviously bogus story? Did they conduct a field sobriety test on him? Take a blood sample? If not, they screwed up to cover up for one of their own.

There is no way this cop was hit by a motorist. But, if he was, he deserves to be fired. How and the hell can you be a cop and your observation skills are so shitty? The best he could come up with is a dark four door sedan? That's why I think it is bogus. Also, take a look at streetview of the intersection he is talking about. The telephone poles are not that close to the actual intersection. Anyone driven by there and looked for damage?

Bottom line, I think the cop was involved in a single vehicle accident and is telling a tall tale.

No matter what the cops are at a higher level then the citizens around here, so obviously they have all the control over us. It's the government, welcome to the USA, where "freedom" lives, but yet most of our choices that we make are regulated and everything we do is seen from an eye in the sky.

Your police force at work. How much did it cost to discover the obvious in this case? Tell you what if I had ever received a ticket from this a-hole, pleaded not guilty and lost based on his account I would appeal.

Here is what he has to look forward to

Filing a false police report (a) For Class 1 misdemeanors, confinement in jail for not more than twelve months and a fine of not more than $2,500, either or both.

(hit and run) Any person convicted of a violation of this section is guilty of (i) a Class 5 felony if the accident results in injury to or the death of any person, or if the accident results in more than $1000 of damage to property or (ii) a Class 1 misdemeanor if the accident results in damage of $1000 or less to property.
