Any place that offers woodshop /woodworking classes for 11 yr olds?

Anyone know of a place that offers woodshop classes for young kids? My 11 yr old would like to gain some skills and would work better with an instructor other than his father. I didn't see anything in Parktakes. Other options?

send him down to the lumber yard or better yet the quarry. pin a note to his shirt saying "TEACH ME"

Might check with Woodcraft but their classes aren't cheap.

I'd be surprised if there are any for kids these days just due to liability concerns. Kids and blades of various sorts don't mix well for insurance companies.

your typical middle school shop class? I assume he is in middle school now or will be next year, 7th grade regular shop, 8th grade metal shop.

Other than that.. why wouldn't he want to build/fix stuff with his ole man? Or why wouldn't you with him? Bond with da boy.

There is a guy in my neighborhood does it. Search gogle for "Uncle Touchies Magic Basement" for more info.

Arlington County had summer classes years ago with woodworking workshops. I know this is Fairfax, but maybe if you called the Arlington Career Center, there may be an extra charge but he could still enroll.
