Give me a break, he met one dumb girl in a bar and it sent him on a rambling, negative tear about his own school! If he doesn't like GMU he shouldn't stay. But he's probably the type to whine and complain where ever he goes. GMU is better than many colleges and universities in Virginia and nationwide, and most of his points are quibbles or opinions. If he doesn't go to class sometimes b/c he lacks the willpower to walk there, then he doesn't deserve the privilege of going there, and he's only hurting himself.

No. In fact, I think it is pretty low given what this same person would be making in the private sector running a multi-million dollar enterprise educating tens of thousands of students. Just because a job is at a nonprofit or in the public sector doesn't mean it isn't any less difficult to do than a similar job in the private sector. In fact, it's usually harder because you have "stakeholders" who are like hundreds or thousands of bosses bitching at you everyday. In order for the University to attract quality talent, it has to pay this (I'm really surprised it isn't more).

I thought you were a rich entrepreneur. If you think $400K is a lot of money to be making, I assume you haven't been very successful.

I would like to see you spend a week in the shoes of the "bureaucrat" President of the University. I bet the first time an irate professor, pissy student, cranky alum or angry regent laid into you, you'd cry like a big fucking pussy. You have no idea what real professionals do for a living and what shit they put up with. When you get to the level of actually managing something, if you ever do, then you might understand.

I graduated from GMU, and I remember the unbearable parking! It annoyed me most days, yet I never saw it as a physical hardship that I sometimes walked 15 to 30 minutes to class. I was grateful to be going to college and I was not about to let a *parking situation* keep me from going every day. If "cynicalamerican" felt he wasn't fit enough to park and walk everyday he could have contacted the Disability Office for a parking pass instead of staying home, but instead he chose to whine in his blog. I picture him at his computer, surrounded by crushed cans of Natural Lite and empty bags of Cheetos, and I do not take him seriously.
