FFX Junkie, Kara - DUI
Posted by: hahahahaha ()

your local Bikini contest pro Kara from the Junkies (106.7) got arrested for DUI last night in FFX. She was in Haymarket for another Bikini Contest at Kirkpatricks (She ended up winning even without a Bikini). What goes around around come around?

I do like the Junkies but I have to say this isn't surprising.

I heard them joking about none of the hosts getting a DUI after their show at Velocity 5 the other night and was a little turned off by that statement and how lightly they seem to take it.

They seem to joke on air about drinking and driving and driving 100+ MPH into work when they are running late a little too often.

Even if they aren't being truthful (which I think they are) the wrong people might be listening and might not be very sympathetic if they are ever caught.

With JFK's "Drunk Shows" every Friday it's just a matter of time before the hosts end up getting popped for DUI as well because I seriously doubt they are taking cabs home.

Good point. Does anyone seriously think Mike O'Meara takes a cab from JFK in Fairfax to Manassas after his show on Fridays? I don't think so. If O'Meara creams someone with his car after one of these shows, is WJFK liable?

That chick has a "ghetto onion." I'm sure she has a promising future in porn.

I'd think they'd have waivers for everyone to sign but still, it doesn't bode well if that happens. I bet now the producers might do away with the byob friday shows.

I'm thinking in terms of the people a WJFK employee might hit and kill. Did THEY sign a waiver?

That's what I meant. I'm sure they would have to, or at least should.

I was referring to the victims in the other car, not the WJFK employees.

It doesn't matter if WJFK has its employees sign a waiver. It doesn't exempt WJFK from legal jeopardy if one of its employees, who got drunk on its property with its tacit approval, kills someone, even if the employee signed a waiver accepting full responsibility. Many businesses won't let their employees drink on company property specifically because of this kind of legal exposure. The fact that WJFK employees are actively promoting this activity publicly would make it even worse for WJFK should something happen.

Bad Bad Broadcasting by the parent company CBS radio. The entire premise of a weekly openly get drunk show is a time bomb waiting to go off the next time members of the show in question leave and get in their cars. Legally, I really don't see how CBS radio can allow this. I guess we'll all fins out if anything every happens. Dumb way to run a company.

Are there any Fairfax County cops on this forum? I would love to see some boys in blue waiting outside of WJFK's studios to pull over a fat guy on a Harley around 7:15 pm on the Friday.

I was led to understand jfk has a deal with a limo place to get the guys home after each drinking show.

when don and mike used to do it, it was more... educationally themed? They would talk about the effects of alcohol and do a lot of warnings about drinking and driving... plus they did it maybe once a year, not once a week. And it was fun to listen to anyway..

Yes. Oscar of Big O and Dukes talked about it yesterday and today. The girl was driving him back from an appearance in Haymarket to the radio station. Oscar said he was "passed out" drunk in the car and didn't come to until the girl was being arrested.

From what I heard on the show, the girl was a .17 BAC. They tried to make it sound as if the girl wasn't really all that drunk but even one of the staffers who saw her prior to her arrest mentioned on the air that she was obviously drunk due to her behavior at the appearance and some things she was saying.

They "joked" that there is "no celebrity justice" in Fairfax apparently thinking that they should have just been allowed to have someone pick them up after they mentioned they work for WJFK rather than the girl being arrested for DUI. The Junkies were talking about this with Oscar this morning. Oscar seemed a little more guarded about the situation today but a couple of the Junkies, most notably "Lurch," seemed genuinely upset that the girl was actually arrested. Lurch mentioned that he is friends with a shyster attorney who is "in bed with people" in the court system and mentioned that she should retain his services.

"No celebrity justice?" I say justice was handed out myself, and I'm even a fan of both the Junkies and Big O and Dukes.

WJFK really needs to cut back on all the booze talk and behavior. It really does make the station look bad. I know they are just catering to their target demographic, but DUI is no joke and crosses a line.

It's only a matter of time before more of them start to get arrested if they keep up this behavior and the appearance of indifference on the air.

Great post, listener. I agree. I have not heard Oscar and Chad talk about it as feely as the Junkies but they need to tone it down while on the outside appearances.

Ya, it was only a matter of time before someone whether a host or simply someone affiliated with the show got in trouble with "John Law". I know Lurch has gotten a DUI before but I thnk it was back after college.

If you've ever listened to Junkette Kara on the radio when they bring those girls in, she is definitely not too bright.

For the most part though, I feel like the hosts don't drink and drive "that" much. They all drink a lot, which is fine but as far as drinking and driving, the Junkies are prima donnas so they get rides or have limos; as with Mike O'meara. Big O and Dukes being the peons of the station are prob left to fend for themselves when it comes to rides. Anyway, drinking and driving, even one time is too many.

don't worry, 'ol tom mooney will hook it. cbs doesn't care because it didn't happen in a company car. and kara is a two bit whore getting paid $100 a gig under the table to prance around in skirts and drive the token hispanic home.

mikes already lost too much to let himself get a dui. he's panicked he won't be able to find work after this is over, which i don't think is true. a dui would bring all the alcoholic jokes to fruition and land him a job selling carpet.

e bickle the big pickle is the most likely to get one. one day he'll run out of jack and make a run in his bimmer and felt a veteren in a wheelchair crossing the road.

ck's doing a great job with the lineup, its the best i remember since the grease was on at nights. rome sucks, but they have a syndication deal to honor. kara's expendable and it makes for titillating conversation amongst us in the basement of the science building.
