From I-95 to 286, FX County Parkway and back again, Old Keene Mill Road, Burke Center Parkway, Rolling Road, especially, up 236, Little River Turnpike, are exceptional bad, rampid drivers all over.
And, as usual, the FX PATROL OFFICERS are seen lolligagging doing everything else BUT doing something about the heavy volume of highly hazardous and unsafe motorized vehicle driving. Running red lights, 'do not turn on red' signs being run regularly. Pefect example is at Traford and Rolling Road, just up from Old Keene Mill Road, ( one block North on Rolling ). Two, TWO signs up and posted, 'NO TURN ON RED', ( and it is a very expensive thing, putting up, posting these signs ) and what does everybody, too many people do? Act like they are not even there, or the bully driver behind them tailgates and beepsp you stupid thru it!

Is the OP pissed over driver, or the FCPD Patrol Officers "jaw jacking" in parking lots?

Frankly, I am of the opinion that drivers who simply motor on, clueless to their surroundings, are a greater hazard than one who drives like they have a mission.

This morning, I'd just gotten off the highway, and I'm in the far left lane, so
I put my blinker on to move right. Someone let me in, and I moved over one
lane when it was safe, then the next. After passing through an intersection I
knew my final right turn was coming up, so I wanted to try to get into the
right turn lane.

Some idiot comes barreling up behind me at easily 10-15 miles per hour over the
speed limit. I say to myself "okay, I'm not going to trip...I'll let this one
get in front of me and pull in behind them.". Too easy, right?

Um, no. I slow down, the bitch pulls EVEN with me, and STAYS THERE.
WTF?!?!?!?!?!

I had to slow down even more just to pull behind her so I could make that right
turn. Then, we came up to the intersection where I needed to make the final
left turn before getting to work, and she pulls ahead of me again and STOPS. I
hit the horn, and she started moving again, but DAMN!

People suck.

I and a lot of other people would call in aggressive drivers if doing so would actually result in a prosecution. I have called a few numbers in on situations that were over the top dangerous, but have never seen or heard of a police response.

Nobody is going to waste their time reporting bad drivers if nothing is ever done about it.

There was a time when being a rat wasn't appreciated.

After giving this matter further thought, I bet 95% of "aggressive driver" situations could be calmed if one simply recognizes the "jerk" driver, let's them go on by, and you continue about your day.

I honestly think that most of these situations become escalated, because neither driver wants to "let it go" or be in "second place".

I also agree that nothing will be done about it by the FCPD. Here's why: Let's say you call on my tag/car - the FCPD is going to investigate, right? The car is registered jointly between my spouse and I. So behind our tinted windows, which one of us was driving? Or maybe it was my kid? Or even better, what if I let a friend borrow my car? Yeah, that's it, I loaned my car for the day...

What reality have you been living in? There's always been a problem with reckless driving. And things are improving, fatalities are on a downward trend.

The cops don't have time to go after these murderous drivers of which you speak because they're too busy going to your house for 90th time this week. Then you give these discourteous scumbags cell phones and the impatince of those of us actually driving leads to what some would classify as 'reckless' and/or bullying, when in reality it's just a teaching aid.

Here is what is not reckless:

1.) Driving the speed limit.

Sure if you are on the phone driving like a fucking douch bag monkey 10 miles under the speed limit, the driver behind you doing the legal limit can be misconstrued as 'tail gating'. Get the fuck out of the left lane cuz when I get n front of you, I am going to jam the brakes on my truck with my huge hitch on the back hoping to god you impale your radiator on it and I sue you for whiplash. Maybe it's a lesson learned for you, maybe you need another lesson. Everybody is different.

2.) Staying in your lane.

Yes yes I know you have an important text to send so you think all 2 or 3 lanes are yours but really they aren't. Just one at a time. So if you are distracted, and in front of me or next to me and you may or may not even be going 10 mph under the speed limit, I will do two things. 1.) run into your lane, pretending to be on the phone as an end justifying the means to do unto others as done unto me, and honk at you so you drop your phone, then 2.) pull in front of you and when you look down to get your phone, guess what you will see when you look back up? My brake lights and huge steel trailer hitch, hopefully in your radiator. Lesson 2...class dismissed.

3.) Riding in the right lane at any speed you wish. Slower trffic must stay to the right.

If you think you are the traffic police and that you will ride in the left lane and leave a huge gap between you and the car in front of you, you can bet your bottom dollar, at some point I will get in front of you, and that will ruin your day. You will get very angry when your douchbaggery is recriprocated. I see it all the time.

And then I will jam on my brakes and you will drop your coffee or drop your phone and then want to pull up next to me and shake your fist or give me a piece of your mind. But I love it. I love teaching people how to drive through demonstration on what not to do.


The reality is that I am doing good out on the road by letting drivers know that how they drive is not good. I deserve a medal!

I've been driving for 20 years. Things weren't this bad when I was younger. That's my anecdotal experience.

No, there are penalties for being caught and convicted of filing false reports, and for proving beyond a reasonable doubt that perjury was committed.

If you encounter an agressive driver, first ask yourself this simple question: Am I in the left lane? If the answer is yes, then get the fuck out of the left lane. That will probably solve the problem.

Virginia state law requires the owner of the auto to provide any given driver a letter of permission to drive it. The insurance company has to know as well to make sure your paying your fair share of insurance. And being a tesponsible auto owner, you know very well who his driving the car you own at any given time. Your excuse sucks. The cops can still, easily zero in on who the reported driver is. Notifying the owner, alone, of what is witnessed, is constructive to reason as well. Anyone in their right mind does not want someone driving their auto like an idiot, risking potential skyrocketing costs to keep the auto on the road.

Do not wait until something serious happens to you or a loved one. Start calling in to the local police disatches and reporting what you witness. Call the State Highway Patrol office as well.

I only see this happen to others when they aren't getting out of the left lane or on the phone. It has NEVER happened to me and, as much as I'd like to sometimes, I don't do it to others as I have too much to lose. You got them in that state by getting in their way and not getting out, deal with them. Well, since I am a Commonwealth resident, and the state owns ALL public roads, I feel I personally own and given roadway that my vehicle occupies at that given time. Therefore, if my vehicle is legally in that particular spot, it's mine and you cant have it LoLz. NOW PAY ATTENTION NOW, CHILD - CAUSE THIS PART IS DIFFICULT AND YOU PROLLY WONT BE ABLE TO KEEP UP! This "property" moves with the car. This why if two car occupy the same space, we have legal issues LoLz. Other Commonwealth citizens and visitors have the same ownership rights. They "own" whatever part of the road their car is on at that point in time as long as:
a: car and driver are legal
b: car and driver are following Commonwealth rules at the time.

Therefore, we have these nifty things we call TRAFFIC LAW tohelp out in the case of two or more "properties" intersecting at any given time (we normal ppl call this an accident or traffic incident)

So yeah, we ALL own the part of the road we are driving on - which makes US responsible for our "property" which is why WE THE DRIVERS should bear more responsibility for driving safety than the cops - cause the cops arent are f*cking parents. Which is what I was saying to you when I first posted yesterday - that bitching instead of bitching at stupid drivers was a waste of time. But I guess that translated in yr head into "yea! more accidents" - but whateves.

The fact of the matter is too many people in to many cars. Agressive driving stems from superiority complexes and insecurities(passive agressive). Behind a wheel you are king or queen of your tiny domain. Most humans would perish within days without cars and electronics. If you live in your car, thats a problem you created. The problem is not speeding. The average speed of traffic in this area has gone down considerably since I first started driving in the 1970s. The problem is incompetent and distracted driving. Thanks to a combination of immigrants who simply can't drive, to idiots texting and not paying attention, those of us who are actually attempting to pay attention and get from point A to point B in the least amount of time possible are indeed becoming fed up. This natural response is being misinterpreted as being "aggressive."

Of course, I wouldn't expect any police force, least of all FCPD, to go after the real problem drivers. Instead, they'll concentrate, as always, on hiding in the bushes and trying to nab good drivers who have violated one of their myriad of idiotic "offenses." "Illegal" u-turns, turning right on a red light at one of the numerous new spots they have ineplicably made it "illegal" to do so, going the proper speed during one of their overt speed traps (Rt. 28's section where the limit is lowered to 45 for no rational reason is one great example of this), etc.

I'm still waiting for a cop to be there when one of the countless robotic drivers darts out dangerously from a side street, and then proceeds at a snail's pace. THAT is the kind of reckless driving that is prevalent today, and needs to be ticketed. But those drivers are never stopped, and everyone knows it.

Fun fact: You can call in and complain about car xyz with plate xyz all day long. Dispatch may even put a lookout on that make / model. But unless a sworn law enforcement officer witnesses such action with their own eyes it doesn't mean jack shit.
