Just got back and it is ridiculous. All top self stuff and at least 25-30% cheaper than VABC. I haven't tried their Kirkland brand, but I heard it aint bad. Hell 1.75L of silver tequila for $20...deal!

Kirkland stuff is pretty good. Kirkland doesn't have a distillery, but strike up deals with some to make the Kirkland brand. But it is quality stuff.

In DC. They must have a security staff the size of most countrys armies. Most liquor stores in DC dont even put the product out on the shelf. You have to ask for it and put your money in the revolving window.

Seen it on TV, I guess?

You obviously haven't been to DC, because most liquor stores have aisles full of stuff. Maybe on South Capital St, or in Anacostia, but most of DC isn't like in your imagination.

Not really, you dumb fuck.

We consider risk vs. reward in just about everything we do. We take chances depending on the situation. It just has to be worth it.

Going to a store in the middle of a steaming ghetto to save just a few dollars doesn't rise to that standard.

The rest of you dumb fucks---->remember transporting more than a gallon of alcohol into Virginia is illegal.

Sometimes you just have to leave the protection of your house in order to purchase supplies. Even considering all that risk.

Otherwise, you keep your kids and wife locked safely in the basement, right? It is a dangerous world out there. I watch cable news, too! I scared.

Why drive all the way into DC with their stockpile of red light and speeding cameras to save twenty bucks. By the time you sit in traffic and wait behind ten fat women using food stamps it aint worth it.

We get out plenty, thank you. We skydive as a family and are involved in all sorts of watersports and snow skiing, among other things. We understand the risks involved and deem them to be acceptable.

If we we were going to risk going into a high crime area and maybe have some nigger stick a gun in our faces, it ain't going to be for a few dollars off a bottle of alcohol.

With all of the drunks in Congress, they work to insure taxes stay low. I recommend Dixie Liquors on M Street.

Dixie Liquor is overpriced. To get lower prices you either have to go down near the Navy Yard or deep in a neighborhood in upper NW. Just not that one next to Guapo's and Whole Foods in Friendship Heights. They are kinda high, too.

Dixie Liquor knows their customers are all from VA, so their prices are only competitive compared to ABC stores.

I went there the other day. Nice place and great selection. And no it is not in the ghetto, look like any street fairfax. Most of the customers were white federal workers heading back to MD or Va or NWDC. You have to be a gigantic pussy to be afraid there.

People who think DC is still the DC from the 90's are the biggest pussies I have ever met. No balls, small brain people. Jesus that place is full of 25 year old white college graduates and yuppies. PGC on the other hand....nope.

People who don't experience the real world first-hand tend to get carried away with all the crime dramas and news reports.

Must suck to be that afraid of DC. There's so much to see and do, and the only way you end up a victim of crime is if you're too stupid to know your surroundings, or are looking for or causing trouble.

The 90's were safe, too.

I remember the early-to-mid 80's. That was a time when you really wanted to make sure you knew exactly where you were and avoided certain areas altogether.

3AM on South Capital Street in 1985 was a scary spot. By 1992, it was simply a place you wanted to maintain your vigilance, but it wasn't a no-go spot anymore.

Washington state, where my sis and BIL live, has really fucked things up by privatizing the liquor business (at least they made up for it by legalizing pot). Their prices for liquor are at least 50% higher now than those in the good old Commonwealth of Virginny. I've been to DC several times to save a buck, but it is just not worth it considering the shitty traffic, potential for getting mugged, etc. to buy shit in Niggerland.

I would have to be buying a lot of booze for a party or maybe a few months supply to drive into DC. Its just not worth the traffic headache. I dont even dry to Tysons unless they open a strip club.

Really? Are you truly that sheltered that you are afraid of DC? I've been to some pretty shitty places in DC and never felt threatened or in any type of danger.

St. Louis, on the other hand, I felt pretty unsafe just walking around my hotel at 10 PM. But that was because I wasn't familiar with the place and had no idea if the punk who was following me on his bike and yelling out "hey whitey! got any money whitey?" was crazy enough to actually start shit with me. If that happened in DC, I'd just run up and knock the punk off his bike and he'd start crying about how unfair I was being.

I visited a friend at the National Rehab Center a few months ago. He broke his leg in a car accident. I'd say roughly 30% of the patients there are recovering
from gunshot wounds. Doesn't sound like DC is as rosey as you think.

I had a relative who spent 6 months at NRH, and visited every day. I didn't see a single person who was there for a gunshot wound. Most people are there for automobile accidents and age-related fall injuries.

DC is a very dangerous place if you are involved in the drug trade, or live in a really shitty neighborhood, or don't have enough sense to avoid dangerous situations. If you maintain situational awareness you have about the same risks of being a victim as you would on any street in Fairfax or Arlington.

If your measure of risk is how many black people you see, then yeah, DC is a scary place.

Just hope with you big load of booze the cops dont somehow stop you for a traffic ticket in Va on your way back and see the liquor.

How much alcohol can be legally transported into Virginia? One (1) gallon or four liters, if in metric size containers, per person of legal age.

http://abc.virginia.gov/licensing/abcfaq1.htm

If they want the vehicle can be subject to confiscation. Chances of it happening slim to none but you never know.

Yeah they have a reality show about moonshining in Va, and nothing seems to happen or get arrested. I think I am safe.

WASHINGTON - A mother and her child were shot tonight on a Metrobus in southeast D.C. The incident occurred shortly before 6 p.m. Sunday near Minnesota Avenue and 19th Street southeast. D.C. police say the woman is in critical condition, and the 4-year-old child was transported to Children's Hospital in D.C. with life-threatening injuries. Police are investigating the the shooting and are looking for the suspect.

Remember, don't import more than 1 gallon of liquor (3.75) liters or we'll throw your ass in jail for a year, confiscate your vehicle AND fine you $2,500.

http://www.abc.virginia.gov/enforce/shippinginfo.html

Importing Alcoholic Beverages
No more than one gallon of alcoholic beverages (or the metric equivalent) may be brought into Virginia from outside the Commonwealth, excepting shipments to the commission or its licensees, or new residents under special permits.

Anyone who transports more than such quantity of alcoholic beverages per adult in possession of the bonafide owner may be arrested, fined up to $2,500, and sentenced to a year in jail. In addition, the vehicle involved may be impounded and confiscated.

Alcoholic beverages includes wine, beer, or distilled spirits. This restriction applies not only to those alcoholic beverages brought into Virginia from other states or the District of Columbia, but also from defense installations.

I have seen Moonshiners. I am not worried about it. Also talked to a buddy of mine who is a VSP and he said it is never enforced, ever!

Why don't you cite the whole reg.

Section 4.72.1 of the Virginia Alcoholic Beverage Control Act prohibits the transportation of more than three gallons of distilled spirits purchased from a state government store, provided, however, that not more than one gallon thereof shall be in containers containing less than one fifth of a gallon. If any part of alcoholic beverages being transported is contained in metric size packages the three gallon limitation shall be construed to be twelve liters, and not more than four liters thereof shall be in packages smaller than three-fourths of a liter.

So in other words, you have to buy an obscene amount of booze. Or about 20 750ml bottles. Pretty easy law to get around.

oh noz! a drug related shooting in DC.

Meanwhile, non-drug related shootings happen in Fairfax County and everywhere else in the country.

Yup. 9L in a case of wine and that is 12 bottles. So 12 bottles you are safe. Note notice no time limit? you can shuttle 12 bottles all day. It is a joke req, aimed at moonshiners, who they do a bad job at catching. Relax and enjoy the warehouse prices.

DC gets our alcohol taxes, and Virginia gets DC's tobacco taxes. It works out.

I remember back in the 80's hearing stories of ABC Officers waiting on bridges to nab people coming back from DC with liquor. But I think they were going after restaurant owners, not average citizens.

If you're having a party, it is definitely worth going into DC to stock up on booze. For regular daily drinking, it just doesn't make sense.

One - that is a tv show the people involved are actors or former moonshiners playing the part. Did you really think cops watch that show and see the moonshiners and not do anything about it.

Two - Your buddy is VSP, they write speeding and HOV tickets. The state has another agency that enforces the liquor laws. I doubt he would ever enforce that law.

@ where - South Dakota Ave right off of New York Ave. If you take 295 up to 50 and then head back into DC, you take the South Dakota exit and it's right there off the ramp.

I wouldn't call it racism. I'd call it statistics.

These people are being judged because of their ACTIONS, not their skin color. The simple fact is that the majority of blacks in this area DO act like savages. So rightfully those of use who don't wish to come in contact with savages tend to avoid them when possible. Are ALL blacks savages, of course not. But they're statistically more likely to be, its a simple numbers game.

This is really a mess, any person that can say that most black people act like savages is a racist idiot.Im black, I am a very important person in this world. If you saw me you would never know how much I do for this country. Never judge a book by its cover. And maybe if you have to respond in that manner about things you know nothing about.....maybe you should hoard yourself in your home and stay off computers.

What world have you been living in to think that. I dont spend my time trying to change people I figure they are who they are and will learn or not learn to be a better person. Myself, I get along with everyone but I do not pretend bigotry and racism do not exist. And they exist on all sides btw.

The savings would have to add up before I make the trip from Western Fairfax. I am talking at least fifty bucks unless I just happened to be in DC to begin with. Same with the idiots who wait in a gas line for fifteen minutes to save ten bucks. I am not rich but my time and more importantly the aggravation factor of the area traffic always figures into the bottom line.
