Fairfax County General :
Fairfax Underground
Welcome to Fairfax Underground, a project site designed to improve communication among residents of Fairfax County, VA. Feel free to post anything Northern Virginia residents would find interesting.
A neighbor noticed all the ground wires on our utility poles were gone. Utility and the police say someone stole them. 1. Never guessed the copper wire had enough value to climb a pole and rip off. 2. F*cking maggots putting me and my neighbors at risk to make some $$.
If I see this in action Im pulling the ladder out from under them next time so I can watch their punk-asses go snap crackle and pop after falling 20 feet. Punks...
I wouldn't have to do this if my free luxury housing also came with an unlimited supply of Corona. I blame Sharon Bulova for not giving me enough free stuff.
Well..... the utility company really didn't build that, the people did. My Free Shit Army (FSA) is just out there taking their fair share, so what if the house you live in burns down? It's not really YOURS, it's OURS. Let it all fall apart the 47% have spoken!
Do you mean those grey, metal wires that basically harness the large wooden poles to the ground but serve no purpose in conducting electricity? Those can be replaced pretty quickly, I think. Until further notice just assume Wise Latinos did it. They also enjoy stealing all the metal from AC units in foreclosed homes in their own hoods.

No, those are steel guy wires, worth little or nothing to a thief. There is a copper ground wire usually enclosed in black plastic conduit nailed to the pole. That's what they are after---copper.
Its true the plastic covers were chucked in the bushes. Turns out the lazy pricks just cut as high as they could reach (~7') and left the rest so no ladder tipping for me. Seems like if you have enough energy to cut wire you could get a job earning more steady money doing pretty much anything.
To the troll - it was the developer that paid for the utility poles, he then passed the cost along to the original purchasers of the homes who in turn passed that cost to the subsequent buyers. The people (home owners) did in fact purchase the poles. Notwithstanding that all attachments to the poles are property of the utility company.
