BMXer's of the 80's
Posted by: Need Help ()

In the 80's there was a BMX "park" in the woods of Reston. For the life of me I can't remember where it was. It had a monster set of doubles, a quarter pipe and some other jumps. Any help would be apprciated, or list other places you remember like valley jumps off W&O bike trail Vienna near Gallows Rd.

Peace.

I used to ride for Team Haro. Me and my Mongoose routinely crushed my age group over at the track near the old Starlit Swim Club was across from Woodson HS.

I used to ride the Starlit track every Sat. Beat many Mongoose, Redline and GT with my Huffy. No sh*t'n.

Why were you riding a Mongoose if you rode for Team Haro?

Yeah, this is me calling bullshit on your claim.

Sure, it would make sense to anyone preoccupied with teenage boy cock which is why it makes sense to you.

The terms of my sponsorship said that I could ride and wear anything I wanted. However, if I wore or rode anything but Haro then those logos couldn't show. I didn't like how the Haro frames handled. I liked a frame with the least amount of flex possible because flexy frames don't transmit pressure to the pedals properly even if you put stiff cranks on it. {insert obligatory stiff crank joke here} So, I rode a Mongoose frame which my Dad bead-blasted the logos and paint off of and then painted it flat black. Honestly, I was so decked out in other Haro gear no one ever said anything about the frame. Well, except the team manager but, he couldn't complain about my trophies...

SMH

This thread made me realize where all the douchbags in the area came from.

I guess in the 80's they would have been douchbaguettes, riding their pimped out BMX bikes.

Guess what, you're still a fat ass loser that no one likes. Everyone talks about you behind your back. There's a lot of fucking people that fit behind your back.

I ran over BMXers on my tricked out purple Schwinn banana seat bike. You remember me - I had the flowered seat, the high handlebars with the glittery purple handlebar covers with matching streamers, the rockin' three-flower plastic basket, Kiss cards in my tires (pththtththththhhhh), an after-market horn (tootah, tootah) and kick-ass bell. You all heard me coming up behind you and got out of my way. You were scared.

Yeah, and I rode my bike without a helmet. Didn't even own one. I looked cool in my striped tube socks, Dolfin shorts and zip front sweatshirt. Sometimes, I threw my roller skates over my shoulders. Try doin' that.

Thought there was a track on the site of the old Starlit Pool Property before it became a church. 236 and Pickett we rode up there a few times, but never as Organized. But there was a track there. At about the same time we skated at the Skate Park at Springfield Mall. Mall wall? I broke my wrist and was about 10 so 1976?

Used to race intermediate level at Starlet on saturday,s. I had GT frame GT forks. Bought my bike from Hutch catolag for about 300 back in 81 or 82. Super light and fast. I was decent rider but didnt take it seriously as the teams that competed there. I could bunny hop pretty high.
