Daytime Running Lights
Posted by: JohnGalt338 ()

Drove home last night and encountered three people driving with their daytime running lights on -- leaving their taillights completely dark. Even after beeping at them and pointing at their lights, they don't get it.

If you have automatic lights, see what they look like at night. Turn your car on, get out, and look to see if your lights are on. Don't drive around like an idiot.

Idiots comprise 90% of the drivers in the region. Most NOVA drivers have lost use of left arm. It's only function is to hold cell phone. Turn signal and lightswitches are obsolete.

DRLs are one of the biggest jokes going. Whichever idiot invented them ought to be arrested.

And, let's be honest, people who set their headlights to Auto are retards.

why do you think most cars now have the option on the headlight switch so they will turn on when it starts getting dark? because to many people are to stupid to know when to turn their lights on. all daytime running lights do is fog your lenses, and cost you money when they get to foggy and you have to replace them to pass inspection. if you dont know when you should turn your headlights on, your to stupid to be driving. And if your driving at night not realizing your daytime running lights are on and not your headlights, you a really fucking stupid.

I have seen plenty driving with no lights at all!! Surprisingly this is quite common in just a little area. Really have to be careful and look twice before turning. It has become very common in this area. Someone is going to get killed!!!

Going out to a 5:20 PM movie. I saw many people who did not have their car lights on. Plus many more with only daytime running lights.

Crazy drivers in Nova.

You would think the dark instrument panel would clue them in.

Another peeve is the people who drive around without headlights when it's raining. Wipers on, lights on!

I make enough money that I don't have to worry about wrecking my car or yours. If I change lanes and I don't signal, then fuck you! I usually do this to other poor-people's cars like Fords, Chevys, Toyota, and mostly anything under BMW.

Agreed! Have you seen the 'rain sensing windshield' on some new cars? My son-in-law recently purchased a used F-150 Platinum and discovered this on the way home from the dealership. Pretty cool!

Mercedes have had those for years. Had a used 98 E420. It was my favorite feature on the car. Turn the wiper control to the first position and the wipers will only turn on when there's enough rain on the windshield.

When I have pulled up along the knuckleheads with no tail lights every one of them has had their dash lights on and dim front lights. The real fucking idiots are the car companies that make DRL that operate the dash lights.

I actually am a fan of using lights, even DRL, during the day. They make the car more visible and, more importantly, the truly clueless idiots who would otherwise be driving around without any lights on at least have front lights.

If you don't know what your lights look like in the dark if you are using automatic or DRL, get out of the car and check. Don't be someone that everyone else on the road is calling a fucking idiot.

What is up with the impatient people on the road today/everyday? It's sunday and i had 5 people speed down a two lane road passing each other and riding each other's butts. It's sunday afternoon. Where could you possibly be going in such a rush that you need to save 10 seconds? A 2000 mustang. A g37xs a civic and then some. All stock btw. Some old some young

If you need your car to make decisions for you and do things for you, you shouldn't be driving. "Oh, my . . . is it dark? Is it raining?"

I agree. I think automatic transmissions were the worst invention ever. Now any idiot can get in a car and propel it down the road like a guided missile.

If they would at least require manual transmission for license tests, less idiots would be out on the roads.

My wife's Focus has rain sensing automatic wipers and light sensing automatic headlihgts but there's no way of connecting them so that the lights will come on when the wipers do. It's easy to get spoiled and forget that the lights have to be turned on manually in the rain.

Good thing your not in charge A-hole, let the people choose what they want. Nothing worse than crawling in NOVA gridlock with a manual transmission. I love my automatic for my daily rush hour commutes to DC. Manual transmission only makes sense for non congested highway, side street and back road driving...

How do you know "Agreed, Like Shifting" sits in commuter bumper to bumper traffic? Just because you do something (and are clearly bitter about it) doesn't mean everyone else does.

I've owned 14 cars in my lifetime. They've all been manual. It's not a better choice than an automatic...it's just DIFFERENT.

I drive in all types of conditions, including the worst bumper-to-bumper stop-and-go traffic in downtown DC.

I love my manual transmission. Maybe because I don't fuck around with phones and gadgets when I'm supposed to be paying full time and attention to my driving.

The idiots with their manual transmissions are just as bad as the DRL people. You can always tell when you're behind one of them as a light turns green -- they accelerate for a couple seconds, then stop accelerating for a second while they shift gears, then accelerate again for a bit, then stop again, etc. It's pretty unbelievable. Meanwhile they're bumbling along thinking that they're cool because they're driving a manual. :-)

They're doing it wrong, then.

Same with the idiots who roll backwards on hills trying to get into gear.

If you know what you're doing, that doesn't happen.

But that is no worse than the morons who think they are saving fuel or driving carefully by pulling away from intersections so slowly that even just taking your foot off the brake causes you to rear end them.

No argument there. :-)

But considering how often I see this (sometimes subtle, sometimes not so much) it seems to be a problem with a pretty modest percentage of manual transmission drivers. And most if not all of them probably think they know what they're doing. Perhaps some are even FFU posters?

I think that goes back to the original point, that most drivers suck. If everybody was required to drive a manual transmission as part of the driving test to get a license, it might weed out all the bad drivers.

I've definitely noticed that the worst drivers over-estimate their driving skill. Very few people admit to being a shitty driver.

Automatic transmissions is a great innovation for automobiles. It has made possible for the elderly, handicapped and driver challenged to travel without relying on public transportation or someone else. I have never owned a automatic for the simple reason I'm capable of manipulating the controls of a car to reach the destination. I would never purchase a car that I didn't have full control of. Especially when spending $ 40,00+ for so called luxury sports machines.
I avoid heavy traffic but I do grin when someone passes to beat me to the red light or traffic congestion. "Hurry up and wait". If you ever served your country you know how that goes.

I have no problem shifting and texting at the same time.

To each their own. But if it's Sunday, and I'm in a hurry, its none of your fucking buisness what I do. Just stay in the far right lane. You have no right to administer a speed limit because your going nowhere fast.

I like to set the pace at 70 in the far right lane.

It doesn't matter which road you're on. If you're being passed on the right side, you're an idiot and you need to get back over in a slower lane. Also, many people work Sundays. Mind your own business and stay in the slow lane until you need to pass.
