Communist unions! Another example of the proletariat imposing their righteous will upon the bourgeoisie.

The proletariat has way too much power over the persecuted bourgeoisie.

Ah if only you young ones had had the twinkie back in the 1960's when they were made with real ingredients, actual angel food cake and creamy fresh white filling(watch it) instead of the change to preservatives 30+ years ago, it sucked. Thats when twinkies died for me. Hell even Wonder Bread tastes like cardboard these days and is never on sale. Maybe some specialty baker will buy the twinkie and the cupcakes and return them to their glory but I doubt it. Let them fade away. The tears on my pillow show the pain of my taste buds.

Why the fuck did Lil' Debbie drop the Banana Twins? I think Lil' Debbie contributed to the demise of Twinkie Nation but the change in twinkie formula was a slow death

You know Drake Ding Dongs don't taste like they se too?

I remember twinkies that had real sugar, and didn't taste like a chemist's armpit, too.

Then they started replacing the "expensive" natural ingredients with all the laboratory invented substitutes. That's what happens when a company becomes publicly traded -- they have to constantly increase dividends to shareholders, show earnings growth in order to pump up their share prices, etc.

Look at McDonald's, they have to shave a penny here and a penny there on their food costs because they've already maxed out market growth.

Yeah I read about the first decline in sales at Mcdonald's in years. They were a mess in the late 1980's and early 1990's and they did good job cleaning them up, but I was in one tongiht that was pretty dirty, but the food tastes like nothing generally! I think they also trying to save money these days by having way less employees.

I fell for the sound of that Cheddar Bacon Onion burger they're toting and it tasted awful . The bacon tasted like plastic and no hint of the onions and as for the cheese not noticeable. But even an old standby like the Quarter Pounder is bad. The meat justs leaves a bad taste in ones mouth.(watch it) And has for years.

I got the last box of Twinkies at the Stone Road Giant in Centreville! Somebody left them on a shelf in the cereal aisle. The cashier said she thought they had sold out an hour earlier. Score one for me!

If you had read the story instead of just reacting to it, you'd realize they will be closing the plants on the 20th.

That's 3 more days of production, they will be restocking the shelves a few more times before they finally run out.

And they also didn't say they were absolutely shuttering their plants, they simply asked the bankruptcy judge for permission to do so. You hoarders may actually cause management to reconsider this idea.

LOL, people are falling for that shit. This is classic vulture, I mean venture capitalism. We've seen it many times before.

1) Buy a struggling company.
2) Borrow as much money as possible, with no intention of paying it back.
3) Raise executive salaries to obscene levels.
4) Declare bankruptcy, liquidate, and sell off any still valuable pieces.
5) Blame the unions.

You got that right, hedge.

Hostess got Bained. A quick check on the guy that heads Hostess. He has run 8 companies in 10 years. None of them exist today.

Tell me how a "turnaround expert" that doesn't turn anything around keep getting hired? Never mind, I know the answer. "Turnaround" is NOT the objective.

To the hoarders: You do release IF Hostess does go out of business most likely someone will purchase the twinkie name from hostess and continue to make twinkies. Right? Your hording will only help you in the next few weeks ~ then you'll be stuck with a bunch of twinkies that are worth the same (maybe less) than the ones newly put on the shelves... just saying.

Good luck in the next couple of weeks though ~ I'm sure you'll make a killing just in that time frame...

I've been reading that the main contender to pick the Hostess corpse is a Mexican out fit called Grupo Bimbo (for real!), which is supposedly the biggest bakery company in the world.

I don't eat that hostess shit, but I was horrified to read that Bimbo owns the Arnold bread and Thomases muffins that I do eat! Gonna quit right now, no way I'm eating something made by some 12-cent an hour beaner in Mexico!

It's really a testament to how far we have fallen when fucking Mexicans are snapping up iconic American brands. It's over.

God, you are dumb! Do you really think bread that gets delivered daily to your local store was made a week ago in Mexico? Bakeries, diaries, etc, are all basically local, at most regional, operations. There is a Thomas' bakery in Frederick, MD.

Here are the rules that the unions refused to negotiate on for Hostess:

"Union work rules usually required cake and bread products to be delivered to a single retail location using two separate trucks. Drivers weren't allowed to load their own vehicles, and the workers who loaded bread weren't allowed to load cake. On most delivery routes, another "pull up" employee moved products from back rooms to shelves."

Management is surely to blamed (probably mostly to blame) but these kind of work rules sure as hell don't help.

My office is full of twinkies. That's the kind of person I am, and the kind of person I hire.
