I want to pick out a home defense model shotgun before we eventually get hit with a Katrina. Can I pick up a decent model in either of those stores? Feel free to reccomend a model.

It's a twelve-gauge, double-barreled Remington. S-Mart's top of the line. You can find this in the sporting goods department. That's right, this sweet baby was made in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Retails for about $109.95. It's got a walnut stock, cobalt-blue steel, and a hair trigger. That's right... shop smart: shop S-Mart... You got that?

This is important. Make sure wherever you go that you wrap your mouth around the barrel in the store, and ask the nice salesperson if they think you'll be able to "toe the trigger".

You have nothing to fear, Obama has weaned the former looters on so many entitlements they have forgotten how to steal.

tell the sales person you only need one round of ammunition. have you ever shot a shotgun before? if you have never been around guns, take a class first. otherwise you might end up hurting yourself or someone else. and by the way, buying a gun isnt going to help you if you dont have the guts to use it when the shtf.

I remember browsing the catalogue of Dick's once and a Mossberg 500 was almost 500 dollars, and there was really nothing under 400.

Don't worry friend I play video games so I am fully trained in the use of all firearms, tactics, and humiliation of my enemies. Also I got into a fight once in middle school so I know I have the guts. Do you?????????????

Dicks is definitely overpriced, but a guy at work just picked up the Maverick from there (think he said it was the Dicks in Baileys?) for under $200. It feels cheap and you can't put a pistol grip or folding stock on it, no screws to remove the stock.

the mossberg maverick is a cheap version of the model 500. all model 500 accessories will fit the maverick. i know, because i have one. any stock that will fit on the 500 will fit the maverick. by the way, you dont add a pistol grip to a shotgun. you have to buy a new stock that has a pistol grip because its one peice.

Posession of a shotgun with a barrel less than 18" is a Major Felony. Never "saw off" a shotgun barrel yourself and check the length of any used one before purchase. Factory replacement 18" barrels are available and easy to install for most popular sporting models

I think it's because you can conceal a sawed off shotgun easily. Or because the spread of the shot is much wider. Or perhaps just for the sake of making a law.
Slightly unrelated, but I saw a sign on a gas pump yesterday that said it is unlawful to put gasoline in a glass container. Are they afraid of people making molotov cocktails right at the pump??

You can only saw 4 inches off an 18 inch mossberg barrel.Below that you get into the mag tube. Its illegal unless you file a Form 1 with the ATFE.You must get the CLEO signature and cut a $200 check to the ATFE.Then wait 6 months.
CLEO is Chief Law Enforcement Officer. The Police Chief or the Sherriff of you county.

Never underestimate the stupidity of people. I suspect it has more to do with the customer dropping it and the bottle breaks spreading gas all over the lot. Read the warning label on a step ladder some time for a real eye opener. The warning label covers most of the ladder. Kind of like the dont use a hair dryer in the shower warnings.

18" is the minimum length for a shotgun barrel. This has been federal law since 1934. Possession of an unregistered "short barrel shotgun" is a felony and could send you to prison for many years.
Spend money on the gas and get your ass down to Greentop, north of Richmond. Big selection, good prices, etc. Get copious amounts of ammo too, while you can. If your skin's darker than a good tan, they might think you're there for the fried chicken stand next door and refuse to sell you the gun.
