It's uplifting to see folks rally to this. When I was a kid, my younger sister had a friend that had been horribly burned over 60% of her body. If I remember the story correctly, she had climbed up on the kitchen counter next to the stove to get something for her mother from a cabinet, and her nightgown brushed against a burner on the stove. This was the 60s so her clothes burst into flame.
She spent the night at our house once and I recall looking at her the following morning at the breakfast table. Her pajamas were kind of loose and I could see the mottled flesh running down her arms and on her chest (hey she's only about 7 and I'm about 9). So I asked her, "did it hurt", and she said "yes, a lot".
I've never had gas in the house once I was old enough to decide, and I don't use my fireplace. Burning is the most painful thing a person can experience, I'm told, and my heart goes out to this girl.
