Could those parents be out looking for work, or even actually at a job, and the kids, being kids, overslept or just didn't care to go to school?
I missed the bus a couple times when I was in grade school. It wasn't my parent's fault. My dad had to commute to the pentagon every morning and left before I even woke up, and my mother left for her job at the State Department 20 minutes before my bus time. 10 year olds get distracted easily. I'd sit down and watch TV or have a third bowl of cereal or something, and miss the bus. Big deal. My dad would have yanked you out of the bus and gone all special forces psycho PTSD on your ass if you made a remark like that.
You pass judgement on people based on your own prejudice, not knowledge of specific situations. I'm sorry that you have such a negative view of the world, where everyone else is fucked up. Empathy is hard for some people.
