The question is why after a week of searching in the woods didn't Fairfax county police find a body in plain sight only a quarter of a mile from the car?

Civilian searchers found the body in under and hour.

An entire week and nothing? What the hell were police doing for a week?

People, not just police, walked by it all week. The searchers even walked past several times. So your accusations aren't based in reality.

This park is where Fairfax little league BB fields are located. Many people passed by the body, thankfully no little kid found it first.
Remember, you may not be privelaged to all the facts surrounding the case and some facts may never be disclosed. Thats information that is considered confidential.
My condolences to the Glenn family.

@gordon show - so you are telling us that it's the same "keystone cops" that y'all have been ranking on that are the ones that called in the professional search team to find them in the first place?

are you guys even listening to yourselves?

@dead wallaby - these civillian searchers that found the kid arent like a buncha nobodies who just got together like it was a tailgate party. These are stone-cold pros leading the search who found him - they are just like a volunteer group not an "official" govt agency or whatnot. But that's what it took to find him.

im sure you don't even mean that in a malicious way...

i mean considering the factors of "immense pressure at home" and possible homosexuality things to deal with at such a young age (if it's true), that maybe joining the football team in a 'non-contact' position was some way to appease the folks at home? sad story nonetheless. very sad.

Perhaps one of the volunteer searcher who was there would be willing to say whether he appeared to have hung himself? Was there some kind of rope around his neck? Why did one of the interviewees say that it did not appear to be suicide?

Read this story.

Two years after a Fairfax County car-wash owner was killed, police are still seeking leads.

Yong Suk Yun, 61, was killed on Oct. 7, 2010 at his Fairfax Station home, located at 5781 Ladues End Court, according to the Fairfax County Police Department. He owned the Dr. Wash in Chantilly, and detectives believe his slaying stemmed from a robbery.

The Washington Post reported that Yun had been stabbed multiple times in the upper body.

I am baffled as to why all this heat is directed at Gordon Blvd in this thread. The Fairfax General forum exists for the discussion of concerns in this community, and GB has as much right as anybody to weigh in, as well as a long history as a poster who makes valuable contributions. Anybody with a problem with that isn't being forced to read this board, so get over it or look elsewhere.

My guess is that all involved in this thread are actually pretty bummed about the sad ending, as well as concerned about what seems to be a pretty high number of youngsters lost in the last few years. I wonder if the number associated with Woodson is just an anomaly or something that really calls for a closer look? I sure don't know, but maybe someone with a talent for statistics could weigh in on that.

That said, many people who will want to honor this young man at whatever memorials are held will google his name and will be shown a link to this thread, while what they are looking for is date & location of services. While FFXU has a long & dubious tradition of "roasting" the deceased, it's not a pleasant one. Maybe we could ratchet down the heat here for a while, just for once?

And let's lay off the family with the speculation. It's just not right to toss out judgements at this time.

***The Private Investigator hired by the family believes that the death is NOT a suicide. More to follow...

Missing Fairfax County teen Bryan Glenn found dead
http://www.myfoxdc.com/story/19765741/missing-fairfax-county-teen-bryan-glenn-found-dead#ixzz28qfKh6l6

FAIRFAX, Va. - Searchers in Fairfax County have found a body Monday afternoon in the woods of Thaiss Park. Friends identify him as a teen who had been missing since last Monday.

Hundreds of volunteers started searching the woods of Thaiss Park Monday morning looking for clues in the disappearance of 17-year-old Bryan Glenn, a senior student at W.T. Woodson High School.

Reggie Carswell, who works for a private investigator hired by the Glenn family, says a group of parents located the body.

Fairfax County Police had searched these woods before.

"We did thorough searches up to a certain point and they actually came in once off of Route 50, came in from the woods from the other side, but never actually met," says Eddy Azcarate of Fairfax County Police. "Apparently, that location is somewhere in that gap."

Those who know the family and went to the scene say the body found is that of Bryan Glenn.

The medical examiner will determine the cause of death of the individual found in the woods.

Glenn was last seen at around 7 a.m. on Monday, October 1, in the parking lot of the high school.

"We didn't learn this until later on at night when he didn't come home from football practice, but he had missed all day of school and football practice as well," said Mike Glenn, Bryan's father.

Bryan Glenn's car was found by Fairfax City Police in the parking lot next to the baseball field at Thaiss Memorial Park early last Tuesday morning.

WHY, did the police assign an officer on Monday than take her off hours later and not reassign an officer to this case until Bryan's parents called Tuesday to find out what was going on with the case? Who does not know the first 24 hours in a missing persons case is the most important and his parents were told to sit tight and not rally the troops during this time when people should have been looking, The kids are Woodson were not interviewed till yesterday! 6 huge police errors later lets look at last night for this boy the police are "looking for" last evening, the police impounded/towed the car from the Glenn’s carport for closer evaluation 3 days after his parents were told by the police to drive the car home destroying finger prints and other clues on day 4 of this sad story. They closed the park is car was found in on day 5-today giving ample time for most of what might have been useful in the clue department to be trampled, taken or disturbed. Congrats Officer Barney Fife on your fine detective work. I just hope someone considers training an officer or two for the taxes we pay to have people NOT look for our kids.

They were interviewed by police last week, not yesterday. True the park was not thoroughly checked and the body was found in a "Gap" in the park. You can watch the video here, where the family's Private Investigator led the park search and found the body...

lets wait until the fairfax county police come out with a official report. I understand at the beguining of this tragic situation there are more questions than awnsers and everyone wants to know what happened. He is not a county detective or a medical examiner so with that being said lets just wait and see.

Here is a assumption kind of like what you just wrote- He might have taken on the case for free and is not being paid.

I dont know, you dont know only the family knows.

His title in the video is "Family friend" and later they say he works for the PI hired by the family. WTF? He might be both but to me he just looks like someone who is speculating.

Oh just shut up. The boy would have been just as dead if he was found ten minutes later. There are no clues needed. When you find a body hanging from a tree branch its a suicide.

I think he's drawimg his conclusion from some reports saying the body was upright either sitting or standing. Its speculation, yes, but not out of nowhere.

How does a bloodhound miss a dead body because of a little rain? They can smell a body through 20 feet of water. And how did no one SMELL a body that has been sitting outside for a week?

I agree it sounds like he was hanging if he looked upright and was facing down to the ground. But he'd have to be pretty low down for no one to notice immediately. Which isn't consistent with suicide.

With all the notices put out ahead of time about this search taking place, with the time and date, it almost sounds like he was put there later.

Also, wasn't the student from Woodson who died in August also found hanging some time later? And also in boy scouts? This whole thing just seems very poorly handled.

I would like to know what makes this PI an expert death investigator? He is to young to be a retired homicide detective. Mr. Carswell is listed as the owner and CEO of Paragon World Wide Protection in Washington DC. So I tried to google the company to get more info and the company does not come up. There are a few that are very close but they are not the same companys. Some are even very large security companys BUT they do not list him as the ceo or even a board member.

So who is Mr. Carswell?? I only ask because he is the only person that is claiming on record that this was not a suicide. Wondering if he even knows what he is talking about?

@GFR - of cour$e he know$ what he'$ talking about ;)

@speck - so let's see if we get you here- About smell - Are you suggesting that the bloodhounds and ALL PEOPLE searching for the boy did indeed smell him yet choose to not find him? About hanging - where do you get the idea he hung himself? Has anybody even suggested that? I havent heard that at all from anyone on this so I'm not too sure where you got that. Dont think this kid was hung. But in any event, you think he was brought to that location AFTER the car was located? Cause all those "notices" were put out AFTER they found the car - and anyways you'd think a killer would dump a body AWAY from where ppl would be actively looking for it......but I digress. Lastly, your boy scout comment........well are you suggesting that there is a serial killer targeting W.T. Woodson boy scouts? Yeah.......................ok.

@WBMA - it's quite an opinion...........I guess we will see, eh?

@Shannon - um, it's not a cop's job to "look for our kids" It's kinda OUR job to do that, y'know. Sure, they are there to help us out when shit gets real. But "looking for out kids"? That's OUR job as parents. Ranking on the cops in this situation is really sad and pathetic - ppl acting like the cops had some sorta party over all this when they prolly freaked out over all this same as everybody else (they ARE human too, peoples) But whatevs - lets ALL continue to spit in the faces of the EXACT SAME COPS who found the car less than 24 hrs after hearing the kid was gone, Same cops who tracked down the last hours, same cops who narrowed down where he prolly was, and same cops who called in the pros to find him.

@Idiot, Cult - why do ppl like you feel it necessary to respond to me, as if I am asking for your critique? Do you not have a life? No friends? No one to talk to?

just to clarify, I'm online here "discussing" the thread topic - that's kinda why the site is here, dumbass.

Why you are on the thread "Missing Senior WT Woodson High School" making a post directed to me (by name) asking me why I'm online asking questions about the topic at hand..............well that's kinda odd. STOP OBSESSING, 2con - move on if you dont like my comments and learn to add to the convo at hand!!

not. rocket. science.

@Gordon Blvd - You run your mouth wherever and whenever it suits you. And that's your right. But then when someone disrespects you or worse....DISAGREES WITH YOU, it's suddenly an act of domestic terrorism. If you point a loaded gun at your head and pull the trigger? Don't be surprised when a bullet enters your brain, ya' know?

This thread amazes me. Now someone is claiming he was found hanging from a tree branch. Yet another rumor or assumtion. Too many people playing inspector gadget here. Again wait for a news breif from the PD before you assume anything.

As for the PI. If you dont know anything about him or are involed with his own investigation I would not bother to comment. And any monitary arangement with the family is none of you buisness period. Gotta agree with gordon on this one, this thread has derailed big time.

Speculations, speculations and more speculations. Bunch or hardy boys working this thread. Some of the most outlandish assumtions I have ever read.

@Gordon Blvd - It's not MY idea of domestic terrorism...it's yours. You have no control over what people say to you. What you do have control over is when, if and how you decide to respond to your haters. So, when people disrespect and disagree with you, and you get upset and offended...well, that's your call. You're going to do what you do...how about letting the rest of us do what we do?

As for this thread...it's not a thread about a missing Woodson student. It's about a dead one. If I wanna' take the "exit" to the right there, I'm entitled to that. You're not a mod. You're clearly uncomfortable getting your little red wagon painted so, just put up the deflector shields, eh Sulu?

Let's wait for the official release from the County on the cause of death. Reggie Carswell was out there with the search. He works for the Private Investigation firm that was hired by the family after some issues with getting responses back from the county. The search that was conducted by the Sheriff's department was incomplete. They admitted that in the news story on Fox 5 and the Patch (see link) below. At this time, the P.I. said the scene looked suspicious however there are no details yet as the matter is still being investigated. The police will release a cause of death, once the county coroner or medical examiner have filed their report.

All you've done is respond with attacks directed at Gordon, whereas he has actually been contributing to the topic. If that's all you want to do, GTFO, because nobody wants you. Hes entitled to reply to whomever he wants, that's the point of a message board.

Oh noes, WMBA! Did I say sumpin' you didn't agwee with? Oh noes! What will you DO? You're an internet toughie, aren't you? I can tell...s'all good, dawg.

Gosh, with a cause like "responding to an Internet thread about a dead person" what could be more nobler than that? I better stay out of GordonBlvd's way, huh?

The reality is...cool word, isn't it?...there's nothing I, nor you, nor even the almighty GordonBlvd can contribute positively on an internet thread about a dead person. Except when and where the funeral is...ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh, so ghoulish and scary of me so close to Halloween, eh?

Well, it's Wednesday. Time for the medical examiner's report. Gordon, make yourself useful for a change. Tear yourself aways from FFU for a few minutes, scoot over to the examiner's office, get the results, and report back to us. Go now!

The medical examiner will probably share the preliminary result with the family today or tomorrow. The final report will not be available for 6-8 weeks, since toxicology takes awhile.

Recently went through this with a dear friend whose son died as the result of an accident here in Fairfax. The info was not publicly released, even tho the deceased was a young adult. Info regarding a minor may be more closely guarded, so we may not hear anything.

Even so, my friend only received the written reports after a lawyer requested them. The OCME did not freely give her the final report.

A death certificate, which lists the manner of death, is a matter of public record no matter if the deceased is 8 or 68. The medical examiners full report, which is nearly usless to the layman, can be obtained with an FOIA request.

For those consipracy fans this is not a mystery. The boy committed suicide by hanging.

this is all clearly tracking to a relatively simple case of suicide, with the boy hanging himself in the woods. I would think in all likelihood this will be revealed over the course of the next few days. It seems there are posters in this thread who are "in the know" with this information as well.

But it still does beg two very legitimate questions:

1) If indeed he did die from hanging, and was propped up against a tree, rope slung on a low branch, with noose around his neck, toes perhaps a couple inches from the ground (i'm sorry for the image). Then why on earth would the family friend/personal investigator, who we are to assume saw the scene, state so vehemently on the video that it was clearly not a case of suicide and allude to the fact that he suspected foul play. Of course, people have stated he may have motives in this as well (e.g. more money to continue his "investigation") -- but that is so incredibly far fetched.

2) Two water bottles. Why were there two, and why were they both opened.

Something tells me this kid wasn't on drugs. As a drug user myself, we tend to have somewhat of a radar for others, even after only seeing a few pictures. He looks like a clean cut dude. Was on the damn football team. Taking 3 SAT prep classes a week. Not the type to be lured into the woods by a lamb center transient with the promise of crank. I'm sure his close friends can attest to this as well. I digress from the original point of my post so I'll stop there. I also know this post and continued speculation is disrespectful and hurtful to the friends and family and for that I sincerely apologize. I think the members of this community have gotten overly invested in this situation. I certainly bear guilt and responsibility for that.

@GordonBlvd - You've completely misinterpreted just about everything I've said, so I'll clarify. I am not implying that people "chose" not to find him, or that the bloodhound "chose" not to find him. My point is that it's odd that no one DID smell anything, particularly the search dog when they first went through the park. If the dog didn't smell him there the first time, rain or no rain, it's not unreasonable to assume he might not have been there. Particularly when you take into account that when he WAS found, the searchers said they kept walking past him, thinking he was another searcher because he looked like he was standing upright and facing down (which is also why so many people are assuming he was hanging. I'm not saying that's definitely the case, I'm saying it's logical.) The fact that they kept walking passed him implies that they didn't smell anything. You can't get that close to a body that's been dead for a week and not smell it or see pretty obvious signs of decomp, unless it HASN'T been dead for a week. Is this all speculation? Of course it is. That's sort of the point.

It's hard at thsi point to say if he hanged himself or it was something else. I know that the one guy stated that in his opinion he strongly did not believe it to be a suicide. One other interesting thing was the wording that the Officer on the scene used in the news interview - he said something along the lines that detective and crime scene personnel were looking into how he was "strapped" to a tree. I know I would not even think of using that word if I found someone hanged. As for the individuals who were asking why the school didn't notify the parents - WTW's automated system doesn't place the calls until about 7-8pm the evening the student is absent.

This is what private investigators do. They stand up in front of cameras and cast doubt upon whatever the police investigation and then milk the family out of more money. This particular dude is not a professional. He is a skip tracer who happned to be all that the company had.

Fairfax police positively ID body as Bryan Glenn
By: Kari Pugh | Inside NoVA
Published: October 10, 2012 Updated: October 10, 2012 - 7:18 PM
http://www2.insidenova.com/news/2012/oct/10/fairfax-police-positively-id-body-bryan-glenn-ar-2273689/

Fairfax County police have confirmed that the body searchers found in the woods of Thaiss Park is missing Woodson High School senior Bryan Glenn.

But the “cause and manner” of the teen’s death remains unknown, police said in a Wednesday news release. The state medical examiner’s office will make that determination.

Bryan, a popular 17-year-old football player, disappeared Oct. 1 after dropping his brother off at school and stopping by a Dunkin Donuts. His car was found near Thaiss Park off Pickett Road not far from Fairfax City. Police searched the area, but did not see Bryan, who was found not far from a foot path, according to Twitter and Facebook accounts of the search.

The sad ending to Bryan’s disappearance has prompted a community outpouring for his parents and younger brother, Marty.

More than 3,300 people belong to the Facebook group “Find Bryan Glenn.” Hundreds of messages of shock, sympathy and support continue to flood the page, along with offers of help.

Volunteers have organized meals to be delivered to the Glenn family through the end of the month, and dozens more donated household items like paper plates, cups and napkins.

A Paypal account has been set up to help the family pay for funeral arrangements and the expenses of a private investigator to look into Bryan’s death.

“Hey guys, on behalf of the whole Glenn Family, I'd like to thank you for all your support throughout this whole ordeal,” his brother, Marty, wrote on the page Wednesday.

When Bryan’s body was discovered, Fairfax police initially posted a tweet calling the case “an apparent suicide.” They quickly backed off that statement, tweeting: ““Too early in investigation of remains found in Thaiss Park to determine circumstances of death. Plz disregard earlier post.”

Police ask anyone with information about Bryan’s disappearance or death to call 1-866-411-TIPS/8477, e-mail at www.fairfaxcrimesolvers.org or text “TIP187” plus your message to CRIMES/274637 or call Fairfax County Police at 703-691-2131.

I love this discussion because what you are missing is the profile of so many other Fairfax County students who have committed suicide. "he was a great student", "he was an athlete", he came from a good family (military usually)...he was taking 798098 AP classes and SAT prep....you don't see the pattern? will also work for the shootemup types likes Westfields Va Tech kid... this is the problem, not the outlier. The way kids are living here is messed up, thats the real problem that none of you want to look at. (maybe something to do with real estate values?)

@Virginian - +1 :)

@hlkju - you might wanna be careful cause seeing a "pattern" when there is none is kinda one of the first signs...................... It's kinda crazy to

a) think all kids around here are living the same way
b) think that the kids have ANYTHING to do with their home's property values
c) that any of these kids who killed themselves did so because of the way they were living their life. You dont know shit about what they were thinking and it could honestly have just been a stupid mistake over a stupid kid thing - hell, even grown adults kill themselves over stupid reasons - I bet boyfriend/girlfriend breakup is seriously one of the top reasons ppl off themselves - and how stupid is that, y'know? So yeah, to say the kids are "messed up" and there's some sorta pattern - that's not right, yo..................

@ James - so much for your "public records" hogwash. Death certificates in Va are private for 50 years, unless you are a qualifying relative.
See Va Dept of Health:

"Birth records are public information 100 years after the date of the event; death, marriage, and divorce records, 50 years after the event. Vital Records are available to immediate family members only- mother, father, husband, wife, child, brother, sister and grandparents with valid ID. Quote from the Patch in article today re Bryan:

http://fairfaxcity.patch.com/articles/police-no-predator-on-the-loose-cause-of-bryan-s-death-could-take-months-to-determine

Because the state treats autopsies and other post-mortem tests as private medical records, those details are not open to the public. The medical examiner plans to release a cause and manner of death once toxicology tests are complete, said Officer Eddy Azcarate of the Fairfax County Police Department.

Odds are they will release those details only to the family.

this investigation is moving way too slow. I guess fairfax county police doesnt have the evidence and clues because they did not do anything in this case. All they did was say malarky.

@wrw - um, forensic pychology would ONLY apply if a crime was commited, dumbass - you got ANY proof of a crime? Any history this kid had with drugs? STFU unless you have a PATTERN to show us, k? Been asking those questions for almost a week now and no reason to suspect any criminal activity has been forthcoming. So until you come up with some EVIDENCE other than your bullshit theories, I'm going with the MOST OBVIOUS pattern (of which yes, you are right - there is plenty of "pattern" on that tip - whether you wish to see it or not)

@Persi - yeah..............sounds like the cops got all the "evidence

@dukest - if it's not a crime, then the cops arent gonna like update the public anymore on it.

@Mad - what's sad about all this is that it was really a private matter to begin with - which is prolly why the cops have been as mum as they have been about all this - they knew what this was all about even before the body was found prolly.

@HOA - You actually copy and pasted that on here like you think anybody gives a fuck about me, anything I say, or how many times I say it? ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ROFLMAO@U Here let me help you out - we ALREADY have a thread for y'all batshit crazy ppl who want to focus on me like it's my site or whatever it is you think.............. http://www.fairfaxunderground.com/forum/read/40/921849.html

the interviews w/ classmates and friends should be the go-to for info. if they think its a drug deal gone bad it's because somebody knows something and is too afraid to talk.

Searchers that were in the area when Bryan's body was discovered have said that he had been hanged. If he didn't do this himself, someone else would have done it.

I don't think that the police will ever divulge that he was hanged.

A senior at Edison killed herself last year at home; South County lost
a senior to suicide last January.

Our kids are under a lot of pressure. School has changed and so has the world that they live in. We parents and teachers tend to expect so much from our kids.

Someone should go back to where his body was found and look for any other evidence that might've been there. The police have had time to look, but based on past performance...

Maybe the kid was gay and tried to ask out another guy to the dance. The guy rejected him and then was going to out him.
