Uh... no thanks. How is that going to improve traffic when everyone bolts to the alternative routes?

It would be the first and last toll road with at-grade interchanges because of how stupid an idea it is. 28 would be a better idea...

It was an example. I don't think anyone would ever seriously consider making the Parkway a toll road. As snakeinthegrass said, it has numerous at grade intersections and unless they plan converting them all to interchanges, the concept is simply infeasible.

If there is more money to be taken from us for something we are already paying for then it should be named the Gerry Connolly Expressway.

I would gladly pay a toll if they would remove all signalized intersections within 1 year of instituting the toll

Remember, these are the STARTING toll rates.

That parkway was built and is maintained by state funds and federal funds. They renamed it to 286 to keep the federal funding. The users of that road have already paid for it in their taxes and continue to pay for it in taxes - mainly the gasoline tax and probably the property/income taxes.

The money that the drivers use for these tolls would come from earnings already taxed with state and local income tax.

Summary:
Federal income tax
State income tax
Federal gasoline tax
State income tax
another fucking toll

And none of the extra revenue will go to the maintenance and improvement of this road.

They would be better off setting up streetcars in the median to run between Springfield, Fair Oaks and Reston Town Center. People with COPD could just jump off the streetcars at the Fair Oaks or Reston hospital centers to get their oxygen therapy.

It's just going to divert traffic to West Ox Road and Centreville Road.
