Fairfax Underground
Welcome to Fairfax Underground, a project site designed to improve communication among residents of Fairfax County, VA. Feel free to post anything Northern Virginia residents would find interesting.
So which is a better way to spend tax dollars?
Guns - Building weapons to take out terrorists and invade countries.
Butter - Saving lives, investing in farms\food inside the US and building US infrastructure.
I can see we need to invade other counrties and help build their infrastructure to better their countries, but if didn't invade their countries to start with then wouldn't terrorism go away.
Certainly improving inside the US make a lot sense but how can we determine which project make the most sense? Bridges, roads, now sources of energy?
When you need to stop that stupid fuck in North Korea you will wish you had guns instead of butter. But in fairness we are paying to protect South Korea so let them pony up some money to keep us on the border.

Heart disease is the number one killer in the US. We should be at war with obesity.
(if you didn't know, all cancers are different and there can't be a cure all for breast, prostate, skin, etc cancer)

There is no such think as a cure for cancer. Cancer is a runaway gene mutation. Each are different. As long as you have DNA you will have cancer. It is kinda like saying we need to find a cure for fire. But as long as you have o2, fule and heat, you will have fire.

Actually the world of cancer research and upcoming treatments are offering new hopes. New drugs are being approved that enable the immune system to attack and kill the cancer, unlike using radiation and chemo to kill the cells. Also, cancers are being reclassified by how they react to these new treatments rather than the tissue that the cancer is attacking (breast, prostate, skin, etc.). Some cancers in different geographic areas of the body actually act very similar when exposed to the new treatments.
Never say can't, we just need to think about the problem differently.

Actually it would be. Initially preventing cancer would be profitabe and after that people will still need a way to die. Whatever that way is, the medical community will be there to try and prevent it. Remember we erradicated polio and no one complained that the iron lung manufacturers would not make a profit. Then later HIV amd AIDS came along and lots of money was given to that cause. No matter what we cure, people will still find a wAy to die.
It's guns and butter, not guns or butter. You can't have warfare without workfare (other make-work projects besides national security) and welfare for those who can't do either.

Wow, what a dumb posting. I think you need to read up on cancer before making comments like this.
