Eddie Bauer, and especially their Ebtek jackets, have always been great, and I'm still on my second one that I must've gotten nearly 10 years ago (I only got rid of the first one because I outgrew it). My snow pants are North Face, and they're just as good. Also, checkout Land's End and L.L. Bean, they usually have good products (L.L. Bean's snowshoes are awesome). I know eesh mentioned REI, and I've had the same rain gear from them since the late 1990's without any issues at all (It's been worn in hurricanes). In all honesty, you can find great products at most of the well known outdoor outfitters, but it can be pick-and-choose regarding which line's specific product works best for you.
I do agree about certain new products not being as good overall, though. I went to get a new pair of PAC Boots during Christmas of 2010, and when I tried them on not only did they not fit despite being the same size as my old PAC Boots, but the build quality felt MUCH cheaper. Yeah, go figure, my old PAC Boots were Made in Canada, while most of the new stuff is Made in China. I've simply decided to patch up the old boots where they have a tear, and keep them.
