It's tradition around these parts. Goes back many years. Meade has always been apart of these festivals, people expect it. Even the little kids say "can we see Meade perform at the Apple Festival or Corn Festival or Watermellon Festival", they grew up with this. Apparently you are new to this region. Another used to be First Night Celebration but Meade stopped doing that a while back, kinda late and he gets sleepy.

We would go to the pancake house when he was performing, and the kids would order chocolate chip pancakes so they could flick the chocolate chips at meade while he was playing. The goal was to see if anyone could actually launch a chip into meade's open mouth while he was singing.
My daughter was the champ at this - she is now on the varsity softball team at her high school. I like to think meade gave her her start in sports as I sure as hell am no athlete.

Why people, especially the young uns like Meade so much is he doesn't get all hot and bothered when they ask for an autograph. Some celebrities just walk on and dpn't bother. Sad cause if not for a fan base, these celebrities would be just ordinary people. Who knows, maybe in a few years these autographs will be worth a few bucks. I saw kids at the Pancake House go up to ask for an autograph and never does Meade refuse or get all big in the head.

Meade has carved out a pretty pathetic life for himself. He is in his forties. He can't support himself. He is barely holding on to his part-time fast-food job. He has never been in a romantic relationship and if something doesn't change, he never will.
So if Meade's music is "life changing", why should anyone think it will change a person's life for the better? It has yet to do anything positive for Meade himself.
