Actually the Nations Gun Show in Chantilly routinely has a vendor there selling full auto rifles. Full auto rifles are perfectly legal to own, there is some extra paper work involving the CLEO and a Federal tax to be paid. Other than that, unless your are LEO there is a SUBSTANTIAL price difference.
A typical pre-ban full auto Colt AR will run a civilian about $20,000

The laws are why the price is so high for regular folk. A cop can buy the same rifle for 2-3G's.
