Yes , living in a county that has one of the lowest crime rates per capita is just wrong. Please move to PG county where your tax money is not wasted as much on police protection.
I appreciate the helicopters and what they do for our county.
They are able to assist with finding criminals, missing persons, transport medical emergency cases, etc.
The helicopters burning fuel, may be doing so to satisfy the time needed for maintenance or other required "fly time". Or if circling your house (which is highly unlikely, more like just in your area) then maybe someone did something wrong.
FWIW, I understand the county is in the process of replacing Fairfax 1 and Fairfax 2, with brand new helicopters. That ought to get taxpayers riled up...
I've lived in fairfax county for the better part of a decade. i have lived in about 4 residences. half of them were in questionable areas. with your typical robberies, drugs, car thefts, stabbings, etc. and the other half were in more affluent communities; hipsters, hippies, liberal dog walkers, day joggers, etc.
in the stabbing nieghboors the heli's were up all the time, almost every night. i was afraid to go outside most of the time.
in the dayjogger hoods i had the heli's circlin once or twice, but not for long, they fly over to get to fairfax, or annandale, but that's it.
so yes, you live in a shitty area. move. like i did.
Yeah dumbass, police prevent crime. No, they don't, they respond to crimes after they have happened, unless you're referring traffic stops ($$$$).....Economics dumbass, not police, constitute whether or not there will be crime in an area.

On what basis are you making the claim that police only "respond to crimes after they've happened?"
