Here's the latest set of numbers. 215,000 people have received their first dose. So, 430,000 doses need to be set aside or have been given. Virginia has received about 300,000 doses in the last week for a total of 943,000 doses received, which leaves 513,000 doses hanging out in freezers, ready and available, awaiting being given to eager citizens. The seven day running average of administration is 12,000 doses per day, 84,000 per week. And that includes the 215,000 second doses that need to be given (about 10-15% have been reported as given).
We had over 600 new COVID cases in Fairfax County yesterday. The vaccine is supposed to be 90+% effective at preventing these, but it needs to go in arms, not hanging out in the freezers. We have about 15% of the population of Virginia living in this county. So, strictly based on that, we should be allocated at least 75,000 of the ready and available doses. Who is holding onto these doses?
15% of the 943,000 total doses given to Virginia is approximately 141,000. The picture says there have been 27,744 doses given in Fairfax. Since mid-December. Where are the other 113,000 doses being held and why? This vaccine is supposed to help us not get sick and die.
Ralph has a nice stockpile going. He really needs to start closing the gap.
